Electric EN

1) The document provides explanations of common electrical symbols used in wiring diagrams, including main breakers, contactors, overloads, and star/delta starters. 2) A star/delta starter is used to gradually increase the amperage and torque when starting a motor, as full voltage would require too many amps. It first connects the motor in star formation to reduce starting amps, then switches to delta to attain full voltage and torque. 3) Diagrams and explanations show how the contactors and resistances are configured to achieve the star and delta connections within the motor connecting box.

Both motors can only be started around 3 seconds after the main motor shifts to DELTA POSITION, due to the N/O delay contact KMD1.
Compressor:
The compressor starts automatically, 3 seconds after the main motor shifts to DELTA POSITION, KM4 energized.
Water pump:
the motor starts automatically when the operator opens the water flushing valve. If the mine water supply pressure is correct, the water strainer is
clean, the pressure switch E70, set at 2bar, closes, KM3 is then energized, the water pump starts.

Pressure switch E70: when the water valve is opened, mine water pressure should be at a minimum of
2 bar to activate this pressure switch. The water pump starts (see motor control).
By using the feed lever in forward direction the micro-switch S9 - 1 closes. 24 V DC is directed to the
manual/auto selector switch S13.
Three conditions are needed to energize the feed forward solenoid B1 and the drilling hourmeter P3.
- a correct water flow monitors by the switch E71.
- an air pressure at a minimum of 2 bar monitors by the switch E67.
- the water pump should run, contactor MK3 energized.
NOTE: when needed to move the rockdrill for maintenance purposes, the water and air electric
switches can be by-passed by depressing the push button S14. The solenoid B1 is directly energized.

The feed lever stays in forward position. At the end of the feed travel the percussion by-pass valve
drops the pressure to the return line.
Two pressure switches are located at the BCI block underneath the directional control valves:
E66 normally open on the feed forward line and E65 normally closed on the percussion line.
When the rock drill reaches the end of the travel the feed forward pressure is at its maximum the switch
E66 is closed. The percussion pressure drops due to the by-pass valve, the pressure switch E65
moves back to neutral. Power is directed to the relay coil KX1.
KX1 energized, its contact shifts over, feed forward is no longer activated (B1 not energized), feed
reverse is activated (B2 energized).
As soon as feed reverse is activated, oil is directed to the rod end chamber of the feed cylinder, the
large chamber is connected to tank by the directional feed control valve. Therefore the feed forward
pressure switch is reset to its neutral position (open).
To be able to maintain the relay coil KX1 energized during all the reverse motion, a line out of the
contact KX1 (pin 87, wire E65) keeps the coil KX1 energized.
To reset the feed circuit back to neutral, the operator should move the feed lever to neutral (micro
switch S9.1 open).

NOTE: both pressure switches should be adjusted at 70 bar, to ensure that during collaring process or
when the anti-jamming is activated, this relay will not be energized.
NOTE: diode V5 prevents the relay KX1 to be energized when feed reverse is activated manually by
using the feed lever (micro switch S9.2 closed).
