Choose from one foundation and six specialised Sun Java Technology certification programs Platform Foundation J2SE Certification Sun Certified Programmer for the Java 2 Platform Who Can Benefit This certification is for programmers interested in demonstrating proficiency in the fundamentals of the Java programming language using the Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition (J2SE) technology. To become certified you must successfully complete one exam that consists of multiple-choice, shortanswer, and drag-and-drop questions. This performance-based certification is for Sun Certified Programmers interested in demonstrating advanced proficiency in the Java programming language using J2SE technology. To become certified you must successfully complete two elements in sequence: a programming assignment and an essay exam. This certification is for Sun Certified Programmers specialising in the application of JavaServer Pages and servlet technologies used to present Web services and dynamic Web content. To become certified you must successfully complete one exam that consists of multiple-choice and short-answer questions. This certification is for Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) technology business component developers responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, and integrating EJB applications. To become certified you must successfully complete one exam that consists of multiple-choice and short-answer questions. Prior to beginning this program you must be a Sun Certified Programmer for the Java Platform (any edition). This certification is for Sun Certified Programmers who develop Web services applications using Java technology components and APIs, including those provided as part of the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition 1.4. To become certified you must successfully complete one exam that consists of multiple-choice and drag-and-drop questions. This certification is for enterprise architects responsible for architecting and designing applications for the J2EE platform. To become certified you must successfully complete three elements in sequence: a multiple-choice exam, an architecture and design project, and an essay exam. This certification is for programmers and developers who are using J2ME technology to develop mobile applications for cell phones or other Java technology enabled devices. To become certified you must successfully complete a multiple-choice exam. Prior to beginning this programme you must be a Sun Certified Programmer for the Java Platform (any edition).

Building the foundation is all about learning the Java programming language. This includes understanding the significance of objectoriented programming, learning Java programming basics, and creating Java technology applications. Once proficient, you can apply your Java programming language skills in specialised ways knowing the language will stay the same. To get started, Sun offers classroom training with hands-on labs in fundamental Java programming language skills using the Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition (J2SE). The courses in this foundational path provide training on object-oriented theory, Java programming language syntax, use of standard application programming interface (API) extensions, and the Java Development Kit. This courseware provides a solid foundation for the Sun Certified Programmer exam.
