Control Work

Used to and would are used to talk about past habits or situations. Used to is used for past states or actions that no longer happen, while would is used for repeated past actions. Some examples of their correct usage include: "My parents used to smoke when they were teenagers"; "We would go sailing every summer weekend"; and "Ted would go out rather than do his homework." We don't use would with state verbs and never used to/would never are common negative forms.
