Report Text

The document provides definitions and purposes of report text. It explains that report text presents information from observation and analysis and can be formal, for scientific research, or informal, for general information sharing. The generic structure of report text includes a general classification section providing overall context, followed by a description section with specific details. It then provides an example report on the aurora phenomenon. It defines the aurora or northern/southern lights as colorful night sky displays seen at Arctic and Antarctic regions. The report describes the risks of viewing the aurora in person and explains the current scientific understanding that auroras are caused by interactions between the earth's magnetosphere and solar wind particles.

Definition of Report Text

Report Text is a text that presenting some information as the result of observation and
analysis about something.
The Purpose of Report Text
The main purpose of the report text is of course to give some information to the
reader. But in this case, we can make 2 kinds of situational context for the goal of the report
text. First, we can make a formal report text in which it is used for formal situation such as
scientific research. Second, we can make informal report text to give some general
information about something to the reader. For example, we can write non formal report text
to be shared on your blog, social media and so on.
Generic Structure of Report Text
1. General Classification This part concerns general information about the topic that we
will write. This part usually written as the beggining of the text
2. Description This part concerns specific or detail information about the topic that we
will write. This part will be written after the general classification.

Aurora
Aurora is a natural phenomena that refers to northern light, southern light and polar
light. It is a colorful natural light display that appears in the sky at the evening and the night,
seen in the sky of Arctic and Antartic region. Because the aurora is only found at those
regions, people from different area have to spend much money and should prepare their
physics to be able to see it directly. The aurora has complex mix color that will change
everyday. The beauty is surely a thousand times better than fireworks in the new year time.
That is why some people dreamed to see it. Unfortunately, the way to see it at the arctic and
antartic regions is too much risky and dangerous and perhaps only a few people can do this
including some experts and researchers.
The detail explanation on this phenomena is not fully understood, but the cause of
aurora is basically involves the interaction between the solar wind with the earth’s
magnetosphere. First, the storms on the sun send gust of charged solar particle. When the
earth is in the path of that particle stream, then the erath’s magnetosphere reacts. At that time,
the earth electrons move to higher-energy orbits or further away from the nucleus. After that,
the electrons move back to a lower-energy orbit. This process will release the particle light or
photon which creates aurora.
