Also depressurize and isolate the temperature switch from the process. If opening the switch exposes voltages or energy
that is not intrinsically safe, please follow the specified procedure for your plant. For example, if in an explosive
environment, use a continuously monitoring gas detector to monitor for the presence of explosive gasses
Calibration
2. Power on Temperature Bath and put thermo well as per temperature switch condition and stabilize it on room
temperature
3. For high Temperature Switch (TSH), place sensor in a calibrated bath/block test standard at a temperature below the
specified trip point and allow to stabilize.
4. For low Temperature Switch (TSL), place sensor in a calibrated bath/block test standard at a temperature above the
specified trip point and allow to stabilize.
5. Slowly increase or decrease temperature to obtain trip point. . Adjust the screw of temperature switch according the
reading in which way you get disturbed reading from actual reading. Rotate the range adjustment screw clockwise to
increase the switching point. Rotating anti-clockwise will decrease the switching point.
6. Slowly decrease or increase temperature to obtain reset point. Adjust the screw of temperature switch according the
reading in which way you get disturbed reading from actual reading.
Maintenance
Inspections should be carried out at quarterly to yearly intervals depending upon operating conditions. Isolate unit from
process and power and remove lid. Check terminals for tightness. Check for internal condensation and rectify.
It is recommended that the instruments are checked for calibration/operation once a year. However, in critical
applications, micro switch is to be operated and checked more frequently to ensure correct functioning. Instruments are
so designed with rugged components that they seldom require maintenance. Occasional cleaning of moving parts,
checking of the micro switch(s) and ensuring firm electrical contacts at the terminals will provide a long trouble-free
performance.
