Activity 2 A

The document discusses three systems of measurement: MKS, CGS, and FPS (British). It provides tables that list common physical quantities, their units, symbols and formulas for each system. The MKS system is based on the meter, kilogram and second. The CGS system uses the centimeter, gram and second as base units. The FPS system uses foot, pound and second. Each system decomposes other units in terms of these base units. The objectives are to identify units and formulas for quantities in each system.

Activity 2a
Unit Charts of the System of Measurements

I. Introduction

The metric system is a decimal system of weights and measures based on the meter
and kilogram. The mks system is a system of units of measurement that is based on a metric
system. While cgs system is a variant of a metric system based on the centimeter as the unit of
length, gram as a unit of mass and seconds as a unit of time. They are widely used we can
know how big or how small an object is. Mks is useful especially in engineering, while CBS is
used in theoretic physics.

II. Objectives
⚫ Identify the symbol and formula of the quantity in MKS, CGS, and FPS system.
⚫ Identify the unit name, symbol, and decomposed units of a quantity in MKS, CGS, and FPS
system.
