What are Digital Devices?

Digital devices are pieces of hardware for computers and include any
technology which can understand binary code - in other words, digital devices
speak the same language as computers
What are some different types of Digital Device?
Monitors, microphones, speakers, cameras, scanners
What is some personal digital device?
Mobile phones 
Media Players (like MP3 players) 
Tablets (like iPads) 
Digital cameras

What is microprocessor?
It’s a device that controls what a computer does, it takes data as input and does
something with it and provides an output
What are mainframes?
A mainframe computer is a large computer capable of managing, processing and
storing vast amounts of data. These are used by large organisations, such as
banks.
What is a PC?
A personal computer is also referred to as a PC, its common on homes and
offices, they come in many different shapes and sizes, such as desktop and
laptops
What are peripherals?
They are equipment that is connected to a computer and used with it
Examples are Printer, Mouse, Monitor and keyboard
What is the name of the brain of the computer?
It is the CPU (Central processor unit)
What are some of the features of a Desktop?
It is faster performance, large screens with better quality screen resolution, and
they work with more complex programs such as, Video Editing and Playing
Games, and desktop has more hard drive space than laptops
What does “all in one computer” mean?
It means that monitor and the PC hardware and combined together which is
called “all in one computer”
What are laptops/notebook?
A laptop/notebook computer is a portable computer which runs on batteries
(typically with 2–3 hours running time) that enables mobile working, a laptop
include keyboard, track pad and a screen etc
With laptops/notebooks it can be hard to upgrade internal parts (hardware) and
they are usually more expensive to buy than desktops
What are desktop replacements?
These are larger than laptops, they have bigger and better-quality screen and
higher performance level
What are netbooks/smart books?
A netbook is a small, lightweight laptop computer which runs on batteries with
a smaller screen (typically about 10 inches or less) and a smaller hard drive than
a laptop, they use a solid-state technology with no moving parts it is designed
for portability
Netbooks use an Atom processor; some netbooks are able to connect to mobile
devices using 3G/4G). A smart book is similar to a netbook but it also combines
features of a smartphone with those of a laptop/notebook computer
What are the features of a smart book?
Smart books offer embedded wireless connectivity (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and
3G/4G) along with GPS, video and 3D graphics and a full Internet browser
What are tablets?
A tablet computer is a small portable device, with the features of a full-size
personal computer and smartphone
What are the features of a tablet?
Data input can be a via touch screen or a digital pen, tablet computers with
digital pen input typically use handwriting recognition software
