1.1 DIRECT CONNECTION TO VIES

1. Call transaction: SM59


2. Create new connection:
Destination: VIES_DIRECT
Note: The destination name is very important. Although it is possible to specify any destination name, the
name must start with “VIES” (case sensitive) to establish a direct connection.
Connection Type: G – HTTP connection to external server
Description 1: VIES VAT Registration Number Validation
Host: ec.europa.eu
Port: 80
Path Prefix: /taxation_customs/vies/services/checkVatService
3. Save
4. Test the connection using the “Connection Test” button
Status must be OK (HTTP Response 200)

1.2 CONNECTION VIA CPI TENANT

1.2.1 PREREQUISITES

Before completing the following steps, please copy integration package SAP S/4HANA Integration with SAP Localization
Hub to your CPI tenant and follow the integration guide which comes with the package to deploy it.

1.2.2 CONNECTION CREATION

1. Call transaction: SM59


2. Create new connection:
Destination: CPI_VIES
Note: The destination name is very important. Although it is possible to specify any destination name, the
name must not start with “VIES” (case sensitive) if you want to establish a connection via the CPI tenant.
Connection Type: G – HTTP connection to external server
Description 1: VIES VAT Registration Number Validation
Host: Enter the host name of your tenant
Note: To acquire the host name, complete the following:
· Navigate to the tenant operations view and inspect the endpoints of integration flow Online
Validation Service Router which comes with integration package SAP S/4HANA Integration with SAP
Localization Hub.
The endpoint follows a convention of https://<host name>/http/vatnumbervalidationservice.
· Copy the host name and paste it into the Host field of the RFC connection creation screen.

Port: 443
Path Prefix: /http/vatnumbervalidationservice

3. Switch to Logon & Security tab


4. Choose basic authentication and enter credentials of a user which will be used for communication with CPI
tenant.
5. Save

1.2.3 POST-CREATION STEPS

To access the integration flow, user used for basic authentication must be assigned a special role.

1. Login to the cloud platform cockpit for your CPI tenant and choose the following menu path:
Regions –> [Your region] –> [Your global account] –> [Your CPI subaccount] –> Applications/Subscriptions –>
[Your tenant]iflmap-application –> Roles
2. Create a new role: VIESVATNumberValidation
3. On the same screen and with the role selected, click Assign button and enter user ID

You have now assigned VIESVATNumberValidation role to the user of your choice.

2 CUSTOMIZING TABLES

Provide the customizing according to the business requirements in the transactions OVS_CHECKS and
OVS_CHECKACTIV. The RFC Name in the OVS_CHECKACTIV depends on the chosen connection type (chapters 1.1 or
1.2).

Recommended values are attached to the 3085488 (OVS VIES Customizing.xlsx).
