Student Guidelines - General Proficiency (August-January 2022)


About General Proficiency Course
“General Proficiency, at its base, refers to the ethics of a person regarding his/her
dealings with their work environment. It is imperative to understand what the terms
‘General Proficiency’ means before concluding its positive as well as negative impacts.
Proficiency-based or competency-based learning refers to systems of instruction,
assessment, grading, and academic reporting that are based on students demonstrating
understanding or mastery of the knowledge and skills they are expected to learn as they
progress through their education. In most cases, proficiency-based systems use state
learning standards to determine academic expectations and define “proficiency” in a given
course, subject area, or grade level. To complement the graduate student interest/hobby
like Photography, Drama, sports etc. and proficiency like presentation skills, Ethics,
communication etc. to enable a student to become a better learner a General Proficiency
courses are offered at university level.”

The following process will be adopted for the registration, completion of course
and credit transfer for those who opt ‘Option-2’.

1.2.1 Students have to mandatorily use cuchd.in email id for registration and
communication (mailing) purpose. No other email id will be allowed. In case
cuchd.in email id is not active students may reach HoD/GP coordinator for
further guidance.

1.2.2 Students will register the course on their CUIMS as briefed by GP coordinator
who will keep record of registration of students and also guide them in case
of any problem.

1.2.3 GP coordinator will ensure that students register through @cuchd.in email id
only and follow learning path link provided by MOOC office through email to
students.

1.2.4 Students will submit their weekly progress report to GP coordinator.

1.2.5. In case of any query/problem regarding GP course, students will reach to


GP coordinator/HoD who will escalate their problem to higher authorities and
provide solution to students.

SEMESTER-I

1.2.6 All the notifications to students will be sent through CUIMS announcements.
Students are strongly advised to check their official @cuchd.in email id for
notification from Examination department and HoD/GP coordinators.
1.2.7 About the Course:
Team Skills Course is divided into different modules given below:
1. Cognitive and Non-cognitive Skills
2. Presentation Skills
3. Building Trust and Collaboration
4. Listening as a team Skill
5. Brainstorming
6. Social and Cultural Etiquettes
7. Internal Communication
1.2.8 Once student complete all the modules and earn course completion certificate,
he/she has to submit his course completion certificate along with all the modules
certificates to department GP coordinator who will cross check from backend list
as provided to them by MOOC office.
1.2.9 There will be an online exam conducted by Chandigarh University for those who
successfully complete the GP course. Details about exam will be provided by GP
coordinator/HoD. If student fail to appear in the exam or could not pass the exam
then they can re-appear in the exam in the next semester after paying re-appear
fee in the examination department. If students want to improve their grades
obtained in the exam, then they can opt for winter term exam after end of the
semester.
