2. Research for the following terms:

A. Public Health, Community Health, Public Health Nursing. Community Health Nursing.
 Public health
The study of safeguarding community health and safety through research into disease and injury
prevention as well as policy-making and education.
 Community health
A population's general physical and mental health in a certain location is the emphasis of this field of
medicine. This key topic includes programs to help local people maintain and improve their health, stop the
spread of infectious diseases, and other important aspects of public health.
 Public health nursing
By applying knowledge from the social, nursing, and public health sciences, it is defined as an action that
advances and protects public health (American Public Health Association, Public Health Nursing Section,
1996). Public health nursing practice focuses on community health with the goal of promoting health and
preventing illness and disability.
 Community health nursing
The utilization of the nursing process in the different levels of clientele-individuals, families, population
groups and communities, concerned with the promotion of health, prevention of disease and disability and
rehabilitation (Maglaya, et al).

B. Brief History of Community Health Nursing

Community health nursing as a specialization evolved historically in four stages. Prior to the middle of the
1800s, the early homecare stage focused on providing care to the sick and needy in their homes by various
lay and religious orders. The district nursing stage (mid-1800s) comprised volunteer home nursing care for
the underprivileged provided by experts or "health nurses" who treated patients and encouraged healthy
living. During the public health nursing stage (1900–1970), there was a greater focus on the general
public's health. The community health nursing stage, which spans from 1970 to the present, has seen a
growth in the field's visibility as a specialist one that focuses on communities and populations. The growth
of community health nursing has been impacted by six significant sociocultural influences. They include
improvements in technology, causal reasoning, education, demographic shifts, and the role of women, as
well as consumer movements and economic reasons including health care costs, access, funding
restrictions for public health, and heightened rivalry among healthcare providers. At the baccalaureate
level, academic training for community health nursing begins. But those who start at the diploma or
associate degree level can go to a BSN completion program and then be ready to pursue this difficult
nursing specialization. The requirements of community health nursing need the addition of student-level
courses in liberal arts and sciences as well as community health nursing practice. Once students achieve
an undergraduate degree, completion of additional educational programs is required to keep current and, in
most states, to maintain licensure, advance in practice opportunities, or branch out into administration,
teaching, or research.

C. Global and National Health Situations (FOURmula +1)

With the global movement emphasizing the critical role of health in achieving inclusive development, the
Philippines has jumped on board, pursuing various reforms to strengthen local health care delivery and
improve population health outcomes.

Previous efforts at health sector reform have brought about substantial gains in health sector
improvements. These include Fourmula One Administrative Order 2018-0014, titled "Strategic Framework
and Implementing Guidelines for FOURmula One Plus (F1 Plus) for Health," outlined the direction and
guidelines to help the Philippines achieve Universal Health Care. It is focused on achieving three goals:
improved health outcomes, a more responsive health system, and more equitable healthcare financing.

The overall goal is to supply the country with qualified Medical Human Resources who will deliver superior
medical treatment to patients. FourMula ONE for Health aims to achieve improved health outcomes, a
more responsive health system, and fair health care finance.

3. Roles and Responsibilities of a Community Health Nurse

For underserved populations, community health nurses fill in the gaps in the health system. To
provide health education, medical care, and rehabilitation, they visit organizations, institutions of
higher learning, and enterprises.
Community health nurses work within their communities to enhance inhabitants' general health
through career pathways like school nursing, public health, and faith community nursing.

2010, is called Formula One for Health. It is one of the programs run by the Philippine Department of
Health that aims to increase people's awareness of their financial and personal requirements in addition to
their health. Better health outcomes, a more responsive healthcare system, and more equal health care
financing are the objectives of this program. Additionally, it sought to implement crucial changes quickly,
precisely, and with excellent coordination in order to enhance the equality, efficacy, efficiency, and quality
of the Philippine health system in a way that Filipinos, particularly the poor, could perceive and value.
