I. Course description –
Sports involve the fundamental technique that includes exercise outdoor and
adventure activity that include specific skills for example table tennis ball control, grip,
stance, and foot work strokes the serve end return to serve. It also engages the learner
in game play with some basic strategies and tactics. Through skills training in class
pursuit of recreation beyond the classes and in conjunction up fitness and healthy
eating concept. Fitness levels are enhanced physical activities and eating habits are
also periodically evaluated to monitor one progress and achievement of personal fitness
and dietary goals.
II. Intended outcome:
1. To trace the historical development or background of sports and athletes.
2. To define terms used these sports.
3. To learn and execute correctly the basic skills required for each sports.
4. To analyze and understand the playing rules of each sports.
5. To acquire technique and strategies of each sports.

1. Apply the fundamentals skills in badminton, table tennis, basketball,
volleyball.

1. Describe the 7 cardinal principle of sports conditioning
 Warming Up. All activities must be preceded by warm-up. Jogging and stretching
activities stimulate the circulatory system and delivers blood and energy to the
muscles. Waste products are subsequently removed. The temperature of the body
is raised.

 Gradual Workouts. Start with simple and easy exercises and gradually move to a
more heavy or difficult one.
 Timing. Avoid overdoing the particular exercise. One hour to 45 minutes is just
enough extending a little longer depending on the type of activity.
 Intensity. Length for time doing the exercise doesn’t show intensity, rather, it is the
degree, tempo, or workload that should be increased.
 Capacity Level. As mentioned earlier, players differ in their physical condition,
interest, goals, emotional condition, and psychological condition. Athletes should
work according to the capacity level of their body limits.
 Strength. To achieve endurance and speed, strengthening exercises are work out.
 Motivation. The desire of an athlete to be in a top level of performance is a driving
factor for him to go through a series of warm-up and conditioning exercises.

2. Explain the meaning of R-I-C-E


- Rest the injured part to avoid possible extension of the injury.
- Ice the injury immediately with crushed ice in an ice bag or plastic bag for 20-30
minutes every four hours until bleeding and swelling stop.
- Compress swelled are with a plastic bandage. Place a padding over the injured
area.
- Elevation of the injured above the level of the heart with hasten the repair of the
area.

3. State the meaning of sports, game, play, intramural, extramural, palarong


pambansa.
 Sports - “An activity involving physical exertion and skills in which an individual or
team competes against another or others” (Google Search). “A human activity
capable of achieving a result requiring physical exertion and/or physical skill, which,
by its nature and organization, is competitive and is generally accepted as being a
sport”. (Australian Sports Commission, ASC). “An activity involving physical exertion
and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken
competitively” (Free Dictionary Online).
 Game - A form of play or sport, especially a competitive one played according to
rules and decided by skills, strength, or luck.
 Play - Engage in activity for enjoyment and recreation rather than a serious or
practical purpose.
 Intramural - Pertaining to activities, such as sports contests, that involve
representatives from more than one school.
 Extramural - outside the walls or boundaries of a town, college, or institution.

 Palarong Pambansa - (Filipino for “NATIONAL GAMES”) is an annual multi-sports


events involving student: athletes from 18 regions of the Philippines. The event,
started in 1948, is organized and governed by the Department of Education or
Deped.
- Student: athletes from public and private schools at elementary and secondary levels
can compete provided they qualified by winning at their regional meet. For young
Filipino student- athletes, Palarong pambansa is the culmination of school sports
competition, which start with local school intramurals, followed by the congressional
district, provincial, and regional athletic meets.

- Sports Management is the process of utilizing the least resources, materials, and
facilitates to accomplish the purpose of sports promotion and development.

● Sportsmanship - Sportsmanship entails following the rules and knowing
how to use sports etiquette. It's about playing fairly in the spirit of the
game, treating opponents with respect and fairness, and being gracious in
both triumph and failure.
● To integrity - Positive conduct by athletes, administrators, officials,
supporters, and other stakeholders, on and off the sporting arena, that
enhances the reputation and standing of the sporting contest and sport as
a whole; and fair and honest performances and outcomes, unaffected by
illegitimate enhancements or external interests.
● Honesty - Honesty encourages transparency, empowers us, and allows us
to build consistency in our facts presentation. Honesty sharpens our
awareness and allows us to see things clearly around us.

● Self-worth and determination - In order to study, athletes must have self-
determination and self-worth. Their extrinsic motivation will improve as a
result of their self-determination, while their intrinsic motivation will
improve as a result of their self-worth.
● Leadership - In sports, an athlete leader is described as a person who has
a formal or informal leadership role within a team and affects other
members of the group in the pursuit of common goals.

● Courage - Courage is an incredible character attribute that athletics may


assist cultivate. Courage is present in the most compelling sports stories,
and I'm sure it is in the most remarkable life stories as well.
● Commitment - Sport commitment is a key motivational concept because it
encapsulates athletes' unwavering dedication to their sport. Simply
described, it is a mental state that explains why athletes perform as they
do.
● Friendship - Using sport to foster tolerance and understanding among all
participants, spectators, and citizens in general. Respect is defined as
regard for oneself, others, and the environment as a whole. It entails
adhering to the rules of sport as well as the officials who enforce them.
● Dedication - In sports, it is necessary to set goals that will lead to success.
For anyone to succeed at the greatest levels, they must be dedicated and
committed to their aims.
