c. create artwork using the different color harmonies.

previous lesson and later on we will use that in
our new lesson for today.
B. Motivation

Look at the picture. What colors in the


picture catch your attention? The color green Ma’am.
Very Good! How about you? The color blue Ma’am.
Nice! Yes, Cristy? The color brown Ma’am.
That’s right! Color affects each one of
you in a different way. That is why each one of
you has his or her own favourite color or colors. Yes Ma’am.

D. Lesson Proper
There are lot of colors in this picture. This
is what we call “color harmony”. Say it again. “Color harmony”
“Color harmony” refers to the pleasing
arrangement or combination of colors used in an
artwork. In our previous lesson The colors in each
of the three groups or families on the color wheel
are related to each other and are helpful to achieve
color harmony. Yes, May and Joy are right, the
colors of the ethnic costume of the girl in the
previous picture shows harmony.
There are ways or formulas to achieve
color harmony. These are:
1. Monochromatic color harmony
2. Analogous color harmony
3. Complementary color harmony

When we say “Monochromatic color


harmony”, it uses one color only. It can vary in
shades and tints. Here is an example of painting
with monochromatic color harmony.
What color did you see in the picture? Color blue Ma’am.

Right! Next is the “Analogous color


harmony”, it uses colors that are placed beside
each other on the color wheel. Here is an example
of painting with analogous color harmony.

What color did you see in the picture?


Yellow, yellow green and green colors Ma’am.
Yes, that’s right! Analogous color harmony
uses yellow, yellow green and green colors.

The last one is the “Complementary color


harmony”, it uses colors that are opposite each
other on the color wheel. Examples are yellow
and violet. The high contrast of colors creates a
vibrant or lively look. Here is an example painting
with complementary color harmony.

Very Good! To further understand our
lesson lets have an activity. I’m going to call a
name then identify the given picture if it is
