Functions of Configurator WD

1.1 Overview
The Configurator WD is the Microsoft Windows-compliant setting software to enables the functions such as the
search of our Ethernet-related units or IP address setting.
The followings are the units that the search function and IP address setting is available.
 Web Datalogger Unit

■Search function
Searches the units connected on the same network as a PC.
Using this function enables to confirm various information such as IP addresses, unit names, versions of
firmware.

■IP address setting


The IP address of the searched unit can be changed.

■Setting software startup


The various setting tools can be activated according to the searched units.
(FPWIN GR,FPWIN Pro,GTWIN,PVWIN,Configurator DL,Configurator EL, FPWIN GR7)

■Version upgrade
Firmware update is possible.

1.2 Example of Operating Environment

The Configurator WD uses the broadcast for the search function and communication setting function.
When searching units on a PC, use the Configurator WD on the same network as the units to be searched.

1.4 Installing Configurator WD
■Procedure for installing Configurator WD in a personal computer
The Configurator WD is installed in a personal computer using the procedure outlined below. For Windows 8,
Windows 7, Windows VISTA and Windows XP, please be aware that the Configurator WD cannot be
installed unless you log in at the Administrator level when booting the system.

1. Exit any applications currently running.


If there are any applications currently running, exit them.

2. Execute the downloaded file.


Click the Configurator WD to execute.
If a version earlier than v1.77 is already installed, previous version will be uninstalled before installing v1.77.

3. A confirmation message is displayed.


When the setup program is booted, a confirmation dialog box is displayed. Confirm the contents and click [Next].
To interrupt the installation, click [Cancel].

4. Confirm the license agreement.


The license agreement confirmation box is displayed. If you agree to all of the items in the displayed license
agreement, click [Yes].
The setup process begins.
5. Register the user information.
A user information dialog box is displayed. Fill in the [User Name] and [Company Name] items, and click [Next].

6. Select the installation destination.


A dialog box is displayed to confirm the folder to which the Configurator WD is installed. To install the program in
the displayed folder, click [Next].
The standard destination is “C:¥Program Files (x86)¥Panasonic-ID SUNX Control¥Configurator¥WD”.
To install the program in a different folder, click [Browse] and specify a folder.
7. The installation process begins.
A message is displayed on the screen indicating that the installation is in progress, and the Configurator WD
setup begins.

8. Confirm the completion of the installation.


When the setup process has been completed, a dialog box showing the completion is displayed.
1.5 Starting and Exiting Configurator WD
Check the followings before starting the Configurator WD.

 A personal computer is connected to the network.


 The target units are on the same network.

■Procedure for starting the Configurator WD


1. Double-click the icon.

2. The initial screen of the Configurator WD is shown.

■Procedure for quitting the Configurator WD


Click [File] In the menu bar, and select [Exit] from the displayed menus, or click the [Close] button at the
upper-right corner of the window.

All the operations and functions can be selected in the menu bar.

The icons for the main functions are provided.

The search result is indicated.
Information such as unit names and IP addresses can be confirmed.

The explanations of operations and the IP address of an operating PC are indicated.
3. Common Operations

3.1 Searching Units

1. Click the search button .

2. The search result is displayed with respect to each unit.

The states to be displayed for each unit are different.

Note:

If the PC is not connected to the network, the search function cannot be used. In that case, an error message as
below is shown.
Check the communication cable and the communication setting. (Refer to the troubleshooting.)
The search function is for the units on the same network. For the units that are not on the same network, the
search result is not shown.
3.2 Changing IP Address
1. Select a unit that you want to change the IP address from the search result.

2. Click the IP address setting button .

3. The dialog box of the IP address setting is shown.

Specify the unit name, IP address, subnet mask and default gateway, and click [OK].

4. When the change in the setting has been completed successfully, the following message is shown.

5. Search and confirm that the setting has changed after a lapse of approx. 10 seconds.
4. Operation Procedures For Each Unit
The examples of the operation to change the IP address of each unit and to start the applications are described
below.

4.1 Web Datalogger Unit


The example of the operation to change the IP address of the Web Datalogger Unit and to open the web page for
the setting is described.

1. Searching units.

Select the Web Datalogger, and click button.

2. Setting the IP address

Change the IP address, and click [OK].


The user name and password is required to change the setting of the Web Datalogger Unit.
The default user name is “admin” and the password is “dlu”.

Note:

The Configurator WD should be used on the same network as the target unit that the IP address to be set. (Refer
to 1.3 Example of Operating Environment.)
3. Starting the application
Select the Web Datalogger and double-click it.

A browser is shown for inputting the user name and password.

Input the user name and password correctly to log in the main menu of the Web Datalogger Unit.
4.2 FP-X Communication Cassette AFPX-COM5
The example of the operation to change the IP address and communication setting of the AFPX-COM5 and the
example to start the FPWIN GR and to upload the ladder program of the FP-X are described below.

1. Searching units.

Select the AFPX-COM5, and click button.

2. Setting the IP address

Change the IP address, and click [OK].

3. Communication setting
The communication setting of the AFPX-COM5 is specified.
Select the AFPX-COM5 and then select [Edit]  [Communication Setting] in the menu, or right-click to select
[Communication Setting].
Specify as the left figure, and click [OK].
Communication mode: Computer Link
Baud rate: 115200bps (or 9600bps)
Action Mode: Server Mode
Source Port No.: 9094
Time Out: 0

Note:

Even if the communication mode and baud rate (COM1 port) of the AFPX-COM5 in the communication setting of
the Configurator WD has been changed, the communication mode and baud rate of the FP-X control unit does
not change. For the Ethernet communication with the FPWIN GR using the AFPX-COM5, specify the COM port
setting of the FP-X control unit as below.

Communication mode: Computer link


Baud rate: 15200 bps (or 9600bps)
[Communication Format]
Character bit: 8 bits
Parity check: Odd
Stop bit: 1
4. Starting the application.

Select the AFPX-COM5, and double-click it.


The following message is shown. Click [Yes] to change the communication setting of the startup application.

The FPWIN GR starts. Select [Upload from PLC].

When the upload has been completed, the following online screen is shown.
When the following error message is shown instead of the online screen, check the IP address of the PC and the
IP address setting of the AFPX-COM5.

When the following error message is shown instead of the online screen, check the COM1 port setting of the
FP-X control unit and the communication setting of the AFPX-COM5.
4.3 GT32T1
The example of the operation to change the IP address and communication setting of the GT32T1 and the
example to start the GTWIN and to upload data such as screen data of the GT32T1 are described below.

1. Searching units.

Select the GT32T1, and click button.

2. Setting the IP address

Change the IP address, and click [OK].

3. Starting the application

Select the GT32T1, and double-click it.

The following message is shown. Click [Yes] to change the communication setting of the startup application.
The GTWIN starts. Select [Read from GT], and click [OK].

Select the transfer data to be uploaded. Click [COM Setting], and confirm the contents such as the network type,
IP address and port number. Clicking [OK] starts the transfer to the GTWIN from the GT main unit.

When the upload has been completed, the screen manager is shown.

When the following error message is shown instead of the online screen, confirm the IP addresses of the PC and
GT32T1.
4.4 KS1 Signal Converter
The example of the operation to change the IP address and communication setting of the KS1 signal converter
and the example to start the application are described below.

1. Searching units.

Select the Signal Converter, and click button.

2. Setting the IP address

Change the IP address, and click [OK].

3. Communication setting
The communication setting of the KS1 signal converter is specified.
Select the KS1 signal converter and then select [Edit]  [Communication Setting] in the menu, or right-click to
select [Communication Setting].
Select each tab to set the communication conditions of the COM1 port and COM2 port. After setting the
conditions, click [OK].

4. Starting the application

Select the Signal Converter, and double-click it.


The message to select the COM1 port or COM2 port is shown. Select either port. The application for the selected
port starts.

Note:

The startup application is not specified by default. Specify the startup application according to the COM1 port and
COM2 port in the configuration setting.
(Refer to 5. Configuration Setting.)
4.5 IMAGECHECKER PV500 and PV200 series
Only searching units is available for Image Checkers PV500 and PV200 series. The settings of IP address cannot

be changed.

1. Searching the unit

Select the PV500, and click button.

2. Starting the application

Select the PV500 and double-click on it. PVWIN is activated.

Communication settings are required to connect with the PV500 after starting the PVWIN.
Refer to PV500 Manual for information on the communication setting method.
4.6 Data Logger Light
The example of the operations to change the IP address of Data Logger Light and start Configurator DL is
described below.

1. Searching the unit

Select the Data Logger Light, and click button.

2. Setting the IP address

Change the IP address and click [Update].


The user name and password is required to change the setting of Data Logger Light.
The default user name is "admin" and the default password is "dlu".
3. Starting the application
Select the Data Logger Light and double-click on it.

The Configurator DL is activated.

Communication settings are required to connect with the Data Logger Light after starting the Configurator DL.
Refer to Data Logger Light Manual for information on the communication setting method.
4.7 LP/VL Series
Only searching units is available for LP/VL series. The settings of IP address cannot be changed.

1. Searching the unit

Error code will be displayed in the status when an alarm or warning occurs.

"0000" is displayed under normal conditions.


5. Configuration Setting
Select [Option] in [Option] of the menu.

The dialog box of the configuration setting is shown.

Check the boxes of the units you want to search. according to the COM1 port and COM2 port can be
set.

The language can be changed. The change will be affected when the tool is
restarted.
6. Selecting the IP address of PC
Select [Select the IP address of PC] in [Option] of the menu.

The dialog box of the IP address setting is shown.

Set the IP address to be used for the communication with the unit. If checking the box of "Specify the IP address
of PC”, the IP address registered in the PC can be selected from the list. A maximum of 5 IP addresses can be
shown.

Note:

If more than one IP address has been registered in the PC and checking the box of “Not specify the IP address of
PC”, the search will be performed for the number of IP addresses registered. Therefore, the search result of the
same unit will be displayed redundantly. If more than one IP address has been registered, specify the IP address
for the search.
7. Troubleshooting
■The target unit is not displayed even if searched. (common to all units)
 Check the power supply of the target unit is on.
 Check the LAN cables for the target unit, PC, HUB (when using HUB) are inserted correctly.
 Check the Link LED of the target unit is on.
 The unit may not be connected on the same network. Check the network environment. (Refer to 1.3 Operating
Environment.)
 The PC may be blocked by a firewall. Disable the firewall or add the Configurator WD to check in an exceptional
way.
(If the Configurator WD is added, the name “IP address search tool” will be displayed.)
 When DHCP is valid, it may take a long time to get the IP. Try to search again after a while (approx. 2 minutes).

■ The IP address cannot be changed.


【AFPX-COM5, FP7 series, FP7 CCET1】
The initialization switch on the back of the AFPX-COM5 may be on. Check the switch is off.

■ The COM port setting cannot be changed.


【KS1 Signal Converter only】
 The communication setting switch 4 on the front of the KS1 signal converter may be on (hardware setting). Set
the communication setting switch 4 to be off (software setting), and restart it.

■ FPWIN GR, FPWIN Pro or GTWIN does not start.


 The installation location of FPWIN GR, FPWIN Pro or GTWIN may be changed. Change the location that the
startup application has been registered to the installation location of the application in the environmental
settings.
