Activity No. 10 Relations and Functions

The document contains a student's answers to questions about relations and functions. 1. The student identifies the domains and ranges of two relations R1 and R2. 2. They represent a relation between two sets A and B as a set of ordered pairs. 3. They draw mappings to represent four given relations R1, R2, R3, R4. 4. They write one relation in roster form.

1. Write the domain and range of the following relations.

(a) R₁ = {(4, 3); (6, 8); (4, 8); (0, 9); (7, 5); (0, 10)}
(b) R₂= {(a, 2); (b, 3); (c, 2); (a, 3); (d, 4); (b, 4)}

2. Let A = {14, 25, 21, 24} B = { 2, 3, 5, 6, 7} be two sets and let R be a

relation from A to B ‘is multiple of’.

  ● Represent the relation as a set of ordered pairs.

3. Draw the mapping to represent the following relations.

(a) R₁ = {(3, 3); (3, 6); (3, 9); (5, 8); (6, 3)}
(b) R₂ = {(4, 10); (4, 13); (4, 16); (5, 13); (6, 16)}
(c) R₃ = {(2, 3); (3, 5); (4, 7); (5, 9); (6, 11)}
(d) R₄ = {(p, l); (p, m); (q, x); (q, n); (r, m)}

4. Represent the following relation in the roster form.

R = {(p,i),(p.n),(q,m),(r,i),(r,t),(s,n)} R = {(2,6),(2,8),(2,10),(3,6),(3,9),(4,8)}
