Module 4 Developing Instructional Plans
LESSON PROPER
I. READ
The curriculum guide serves as the teacher’s blueprint in planning and designing the
curriculum. Unpacking means extracting the component knowledge and skills required by a
standard in order to understand the learning expectations and cleary articulate those
expectations to the students and the parents.
Curriculum guide to plan for classroom instruction:
1. Analyze the standard
2. Read the competenccies. Determine the target domain of the competencies.
3. Determine the nature of competencies ( knowledge, skills, values )
4. Determine the target topic or content. Identify time allotment.
5. Select assessment strategies.
6. Plan learning experiences.
7. Design learning materials

ABLE TO DO, AND UNDERSTAND? THEIR LEARNING OR UNDERSTANDING?

Types of Standard
1. Core Learning Area Standard ( This defines the broad outcomes of the K-12 science )
Example : Learnesr demonnstrate understanding of basic science concepts and application of
science- inquiry skills.
2. Key Standard Standard (This defines the specific outcomes for keys stages such as K-3,
Grades 4-6, Grades 7-10 and Grades 11-12 )
Example: The learner should have acquired healthfu; habots and have developed curiosity
about self and their environment using basic process skills of observing, communicating,
comparing, classifying, measuring and prediccting.
3. Grade Level Standard ( This defines the specific outcomes for each grade level )
Example : The learners will demonstrate and emerging understanding of the parts of their body
and their general functions.
II. REFLECT
Unpacking the standards allows teachers to better understand what are students are expected
to know at each grade level. This allows teachers to develop appropriate lessons targeting the
grade level standard. Unpacking also allows teachers to develop grade level assessments (both
formative and summative
