System requirements
The computer should apply with the Teledyne PDS system requirements for correct and optimal
performance of Teledyne PDS.
Operating Systems supported
Minimum requirements
 MS Windows 8 (and 8.1) CPU Modern Hyper Threading processor (we propose

Installing Teledyne PDS


Do not insert the PDS dongle before first time installation of PDS.

Latest PDS version can be downloaded from the PDS website http://www.teledynemarine.com/pds/

Follow the installation wizard to install Teledyne PDS:


1. Open from the Teledyne PDS distribution
the Setup.exe application.

2. The installation wizard opens.

3. If the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable


file is missing or need an update, the
Installation wizard will ask to install the
file(s). Press Install to install these files
and continue. The Install wizard will ask to
reboot the computer. Reboot the computer
and run the setup.exe file again.

4. Press the Next button to run through the


wizard.
5. Select Full to install all components of
Teledyne PDS.

6. Press the Next button to continue the


wizard. The wizard installs DK2 software.
Select ‘This machine’ in the DK2 DESkey
driver dialog.

7. Click Install to continue the installation


Click Next to run through the installation
pages and click Finish at the end of the
Teledyne PDS Installation wizard.
8. Teledyne PDS is installed in the default
folder C:\Program files\Teledyne\PDS
Vx.x.x.x

The installation has created a Teledyne PDS


shortcut on the desktop.

9. When using the Teledyne PDS 64 bit (x64)


version for the first time together with an
OPC server, you need to install the 64 bit
extension of the OPC core.
a. Open the OPC Redist folder of the
Teledyne PDS distribution.
b. Unzip the OPC Core redistributable
(x64) 106.0.zip”file, run the unzipped
Setup.exe and follow the installation
instructions.

Starting Teledyne PDS


Teledyne PDS is protected by a dongle. The dongle determines which PDS functions are available for
the user. PDS distinguishes Hardware dongles and Software trial dongles. The hardware dongle is a
USB type of dongle. The software trial dongle is a code received from the Teledyne PDS sales
department and can only be used for a specified period.
1. If you have a Teledyne PDS Hardware
dongle then insert it in a USB port of the
computer.

2. Double click on the desktop’s Teledyne


PDS shortcut.
3. A dialog opens if no valid dongle is found.

 Press Request Soft Dongle, to create


a soft dongle (trial license) request
message.
 Press Enter Soft Dongle, if you
received a Soft Dongle (trial license
code). Enter the received license code.
 Press Hardware Dongle, if you
received the USB Hardware dongle but
the dongle is expired. A dialog opens to
update the dongle.
 Press Continue, to continue without a
dongle to evaluate PDS. Teledyne PDS
run in simulation mode. A dialog opens
to select an existing project or to create
a new project.

Select the project


Only when you select a valid PDS project or if you create a new PDS project, Teledyne PDS opens.

A dialog opens if no project is found.


1. Press the Change Project Path… button to
browse to an existing PDS project.
2. Press the Change common File Path button
to browse to the correct Projects common
files path. Select the Use default box to use
the default path.
3. Select the New Project checkbox to create a
new PDS project. The Teledyne PDS New
Project wizard opens.

PDS Control Center


The PDS Control Center opens in the selected project or the last opened project. Start using
Teledyne PDS.

Resources
Teledyne PDS documentation is included in the installer. C:\Program Files\Teledyne\PDSVx.x.x.\manuals
The documentation includes Product manuals, Sensor setup manuals, Technical notes and Quick reference
cards. From the PDS Control Center Help menu the manuals folder can be opened.
