INTODUCTION
▪ OBJECTIVE OF THE WORK
▪ To help the families of the people who were suffering since COVID-19.
▪ To motivate them in their hard times.
▪ To help them by providing their meal three times a day.
▪ To provide safe, caring and creative environments for youth.
▪ To improve learning opportunities through social and academic support.

▪ NEED AND SCOPE OF THE WORK

▪ Helping others is not only good for them and a good thing to do, it also makes happier and healthier
too. Giving help also connects us to others, creating stronger community and helping to build a happier
society for everyone. In our project title “EMPOWER YOUTH” provides us opportunity to empower the
society, address the problem of our city and provide sustainable solution for it.
▪ And, these community development programmes leads us to become more responsible, develop
healthy lifestyle, empower and serve the nation during this awful situation.

▪ WHY I JOIN THE EMPOWER YOUTH?

▪ To make positive changes to our community.
▪ Build self-confidence in my own ability.
▪ To serve the people who lost their loved one during COVID-19.
▪ To renew and refresh the current status of our society including leadership, innovations, skills etc.
▪ To inspire them and give them the drive they need in order to take control of their future and their lives.
PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION
▪ Lack of Long-Term Strategic Planning- Our NGOs appears to be
incapable of predicting what they will do even in one or two months.
Most of their activities look like one time shots. However, a single
event is not enough to change the attitude towards some problem.
In part, it happens because the activists are trying to diversify their
activities, organize events of different kinds and in different areas so
that they do not let themselves drown in monotony. Yet, this only
blurs the public role of an NGO. Obviously, civic activists should
start learning how to do a long-term planning and develop their
strategy.

▪ Lack of Commitment- They often disappear because their

members were not persistent enough in what they were doing or
they got dragged into another field of work. Such “movements” are
not something unusual. Indeed, the experience of working in NGOs
can be a good start for your future carrier. The conclusion is
obvious. NGOs should always keep in mind staff turnover and
ensure that they should not get held “hostage” by any single person.
▪ Lack of feedback and social support suppresses Enthusiasm- Our
society is only slightly involved in community life. There is a lot of
heterogeneity in why people get engaged in NGOs. However, whatever their
motivation is, when people cannot get that sense of belonging to their
community and do not have their contribution appreciated, soon they give up
and quit NGOs. It is very sad to know that many of these people are not
even supported by their families. The problem is not so much in negligence
of authorities. The real issue is the indifference of majority of population.
Everyone talks about the necessity to control authorities, but nobody is
eager to spend their own time and money to take care of it.

▪ Politization of NGO’s- We had elections recently and so we could see this

problem in full. Firstly, some organizations register as NGOs and then
“suddenly” become political platforms. Secondly, some NGOs announce
about their support of a particular candidate, although it is not their job, in
fact. Finally, candidates often use activists as some sort of “weapon” against
their political or business opponents. Undoubtedly, it is a good chance for
activists to earn some money, though it leads to a moral bankruptcy of
NGOs that take this route.
▪ Poor cooperation with Mass Media- Our NGOs rely on journalists when
organizing an event: they expect they would come and cover everything.
When nobody shows up for their event, firstly, they accuse journalists of
conspiracy and declare a crisis in mass media and, secondly, they do
nothing to spread the word about the event themselves.
Every NGO, regardless how small or poor it is, should have its own PR
manager (or press secretary). The audience which gets to know about the
event through media (e.g., newspapers and posters for the older generation,
and social networks for youth) is always bigger than the audience of the event
itself. No matter how hungry, tired or sleepy an activist is, he or she must write
a press release about the event. In general, if nobody mentions your event in
media, one can say that there was no event or any work done at all. Ideally,
cooperation with mass media should be a part of NGO’s the long-term
strategy.

▪ Unwillingness to cooperate with each other- It may sound banal but

activists appear to create their NGOs as some “closed world”. I saw
situations when organizations doing the same kind of work were not willing
to cooperate on any joint projects. Our NGOs still perceive themselves as
small “principalities with egocentric members”. A striking example of this
failure is public councils where conflicts between the activists brew all the
time.
CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM
IDENTIFIED
▪ Lack of Credibility- This is perhaps the most plaguing issue for our
NGO. During the last few years, this NGO have mushroomed which
claim to work for the cause of helping poor. Under the garb of being an
NGO, these NGOs often mint money from donors. Any NGO needs to
showcase some serious work to establish its credibility. In order to
generate the right quantities of funds to execute their projects, it is vital
for NGOs to function like business entities. But NGOs should not
become pure businesses either. This is because at the end of the day,
NGOs are not-for-profit institutions.

▪ NGOs under Government’s Scanner- With recent Government of

India crackdown on Greenpeace and several other NGOs coming under
the scanner of Indian Government, it is not important for NGOs to
achieve and maintain a high degree of transparency in not just their
work but also their financials.
▪ Get the right people on board- There is denying the fact
that there is a massive crunch of qualified and experienced
development sector professionals in India. This is one of the
major issues which our NGOs face in their work. The projects
devised by NGOs are quite complicated at most of the times.
They require them to go right amidst the most of the times.

▪ Getting people to support an NGO- NGOs often struggle to

market themselves. It’s a daunting task for the NGOs to
come up with the right communication to connect with their
potentials donors.
OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT
▪ Empowering community based organizations (CBOs) and the poor among
the rural communities to use impact monitoring for project management and
thus contributing to the sustainability of their project activities.

▪ Empowering NGOs to further improve the effectiveness, impact and

sustainability of their efforts by identifying best tools for impact monitoring &
evaluation and best practices in the area of savings & credit.

▪ Making social changes more visible in implementing and funding NGOs thus
improving the development policy work.

▪ Improving public recognition of NGOs and CBOs and their contribution to

development.

▪ To fight against exploitation, injustice and corruption if found against any

individual, class, community in the society.

▪ To organize forums, seminars, camps etc. for spreading good living habits,
moral value and methods of developing self-confidence and to create
centers throughout the country for the further activities.

OBJECTIVES AND THEIR SUPPORTING
DOCUMENTS

INNOVATIVENESS OF THE
PROJECT
▪ Donating in NGO is a great way of helping poor- Our NGOs like save the
children are providing children of today the right tools and paving the way for
them to march ahead in life. The organization is helping deprived children
get a chance at a fulfilling childhood by providing them quality learning
opportunities, access to healthcare, protection from abuse and harm and
relief and rehabilitation during disasters and emergencies.

▪ Become a fundraiser- We can use our social clout and organize different
types of fundraising activities. This includes marathons, social events,
concerts, birthday fundraiser, etc. The latest in the world of fundraising is
Crowd funding. This involves funding a social project by raising many small
amounts of money from a large number of people, typically via the Internet.

▪ Imparting Education- We can involve our-self in imparting knowledge to the

poor. This will help the poor and needy to stand on their feet. Education is
the beginning of getting out of life’s hardships and breaking free from the
cycle of poverty. Giving free education to the poor and needy people helping
them to lead a better life.
▪ Volunteer with a charity- Apart from our money, we should also give your time and
efforts to the cause. There are opportunities galore here. For example, we can teach
children at an NGO’s learning centre or take up a pro bono job with a charity. We can
manage a community kitchen for poor or we can conduct enrolment drives for slum
children and help them reach schools. If a student or someone who has just finished
college, we can pick up a summer internship/internship with an NGO where you can get
hands-on training on how social welfare projects are carried out on the ground.
Remember, we must focus our efforts on providing real benefits to the people we work
for. Volunteering needs to be a completely selfless exercise.

▪ Become a campaigner for a cause- Spreading the word about poverty is equally
important as working to alleviate it. This is because more the people know and
understand the cause there are more chances of them getting involved in the process of
working towards tackling it. Join a movement which seeks to address issues of lack of
shelter, education, healthcare, etc. for poor communities and be a torch-bearer. These
days, we have the tremendous power of social media at our disposal which can be
leveraged efficiently to make noise.

▪ Imparting Education- We can involve our-self in imparting knowledge to the poor. This
will help the poor and needy to stand on their feet. Education is the beginning of getting
out of life’s hardships and breaking free from the cycle of poverty. Giving free education
to the poor and needy people helping them to lead a better life.
UNIQUENESS OF THE PROJECT

▪ Networking opportunities- This NGOs typically participate in

numerous networking activities, volunteers and employees alike
are able to experience interacting with different types of people
and hearing different opinions and perspectives. They are able
to hear success stories and learn from mistakes previously
committed by others and what has been done as a contingency.

▪ Contribution to social impact- Volunteering can range from

various methods. This helps the less fortunate with their
educations, participating in relief and rehabilitation activities.
This, regardless of the monetary amount people receive
provides an immense amount of self- fulfillment and personal
growth which will be difficult to find elsewhere.
▪ Knowledge Growth- This NGO often invited to participate in
conferences locally. These conferences are often times very
informative where people can really learn a lot. Attendance in
such events educates in various fields and help to grow their
knowledge bubbles.

▪ Academic Amelioration- Volunteers and Employees of

NGOs have had the privilege of taking these courses to
further develop their knowledge in the field. This help to earn
degrees which can bring us to great heights in the future.
EFFECTIVENESS OF THE
PROJECT

One of the better ways to help the poor and needy people is to
give them a hand up rather than a hand out. Giving them moral
support, showing heartfelt humility and respect makes them
aware that I really did care about them and trying to improve their
condition. By providing them with the opportunities to improve
their condition on their own would increase their self-esteem and
help them in overcoming barriers they face every day. Work with
the poor and needy people and help them discover their own
capabilities and capacity and putting them to use at the right place
at the right time. I supported them and let them know that they
have something of value which can be used for meeting their
basic requirements.
I cannot make such people opulent but can at least help them
achieve the essentials of life and lead a prosperous life. Helping
the poor and needy people is a good deed. Caring for the poor
and needy people and helping them is a noble endeavor. The
more we give to poor and needy people, the more we strengthen
their dependency. If we give them the chance or opportunity, we’ll
see an effective and long-lasting improvement in their lives.
Create a new system built on inter-dependency which motivates
them to work and move forward and their dignity is maintained.
Tossing out money or other kinds of donation do help the poor
and needy people but the need is to direct our energies and
efforts in raising them, building relationship, teaching them and
moreover, regaining their self-confidence and self-esteem to work
for themselves.
