The Master of Medical Biotechnology is designed for graduates who open_in_new Medicine and
seek knowledge and technological expertise in specific areas of cell Health
and molecular biology, which is the basis for modern
biotechnological research and development.
Subjects give an introduction to the basic elements of modern cell Award type:
and molecular biology before proceeding to intensive training in Postgraduate
current biotechnology and its application to the fields of medicine,
agriculture and molecular biology. Total credit points:
Tutorials and laboratory-based practical work is offered and students 96
have the opportunity to explore new technology developed in the
field of study. Additional preparatory subjects focus on laboratory
work and science communication skills. Candidates with appropriate Duration (full time):
qualifications and laboratory skills will be awarded advanced 2 years
standing for these subjects.

Requirements
The Master of Medical Biotechnology requires the successful
completion of 96 credit points of subjects as specified below.
To progress to Year 2 students must achieve a Weighted
Average Mark (WAM) ≥ 70% AND ≥ 70% in the discipline-based
subjects (BIOL). If students have a WAM <70% and/or <70% in
discipline-based subjects they must seek advice from the Head
of Students regarding their progression into year 2.

In session 4 of this degree ( year 2, second session)


* Students with a WAM of 75% or above must complete Stream
A in second year.
* Students with a WAM of 60-74% must complete Stream B in
second year.
* Students with a WAM of less than 60% must complete 24
credit points from Stream C in second year
