ACTIVITY DESIGN
ACTIVITY TITLE: Diabetes and Hypertension Info Drive
I. Background and Rationale
The pioneering batch of residents from the Cebu South Medical Center - Department of
Family and Community Medicine will be conducting the department’s very first lecture for
its Community Oriented Primary Care (COPC) Project. Two short lectures on Diabetes
Info Drive and Hypertension Info Drive will be given by our first batch of graduating
residents. There will be a pre-test and a post-test given before and after the lectures,
and there will also be a Q&A portion. The COPC Team will also be conducting a
discussion on the initial health profiling results among the CSMC employees. The team
will then have a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the key stakeholders regarding the
common problems the participants have encountered in the management and
prevention of their disease. This activity will be offered in three (3) batches to all Cebu
South Medical Center Employees who will be available on the specified date and time.
II. Objectives
General: The Department of Family and Community Medicine aims to promote Diabetes
and Hypertension awareness to high risk employees in our institution. Moreover, this
activity aims to encourage Diabetes and Hypertension management and prevention in
our target population by way of risk-reduction through lifestyle changes and proper
awareness.
Specific: By the end of the session:
1. The participants will know the definition, common causes and risk factors of
Hypertension and Diabetes.
2. The participants who are hypertensives and diabetics will be informed on the basics
on how to manage their disease, its management and prevention, monitoring and
how to take their medications appropriately.
3. The participants will be refreshed regarding the CSMC - FAMED Wellness Clinic
Program.
4. The participants will be aware of the initial health profiling among the employees at
the Cebu South Medical Center (CSMC), their common diseases and health
problems.
5. The COPC team will be aware of the common problems and issues surrounding the
participants’ management of their health problems.
