IBM WebSphere DataStage Pack for SAP R/3

Version 6.0.0

Quick Start Guide

Use this guide to get started with a basic installation of IBM WebSphere DataStage Pack for SAP R/3.
Product overview
IBM® WebSphere® DataStage Pack for SAP R/3 enables users to extract data from and load data to SAP R/3 and mySAP
Business application modules. After SAP data is extracted, IBM Information Server can enrich the data by mapping, aggregating,
and reformatting it for the enterprise data environment.
Scenario: Basic installation on two systems
This document describes a basic installation of WebSphere DataStage Pack for SAP R/3 on two computers. The pack requires
IBM WebSphere DataStage version 8 with national language support installed, and SAP R/3 version 4.6C, R/3 Enterprise
(Unicode), mySAP ERP ECC version 5.0 (Web AS 6.4), or mySAP ERP ECC version 6.0 (Web AS 7.0).

1 Step 1: Access software and documentation

If you download your product from Passport Advantage®, follow the download directions at
www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg24014275
This product offering includes one CD for Microsoft® Windows® or two CDs for Linux® or UNIX®. The CDs contain client
and server components of the WebSphere DataStage Pack for SAP R/3.
Read the release notes before you install the pack. Information about product changes is in the release notes in the root
directory of the WebSphere DataStage Pack for SAP R/3 CD.

2 Step 2: Evaluate your hardware and system configuration

The WebSphere DataStage Pack for SAP R/3 has the same hardware and system configuration requirements as
? Information Server. For detailed information about system requirements for Information Server, go to
www.ibm.com/software/data/integration/information_server/requirements.html

3 Step 3: Decide how to install the components

The following diagram shows the basic deployment for an installation that is distributed across two computers. Computer
A contains the Information Server client and documentation. Computer B runs Windows Server 2003, Linux, or UNIX and
contains the domain, metadata repository, and engine. Install the client component of the pack on the computer where the
Information Server client is installed.
