SPope ECE 640 Science Lesson - Week 2

This lesson plan aims to integrate reading, writing, and math into a 2nd grade physical science lesson on motion and forces. Students will use tools like rulers to measure objects and predict whether they are in motion or have potential for motion. Key vocabulary will be taught through exercises and discussions. Students will create foldable vocabulary guides and complete worksheets posted on the board. The lesson focuses on helping students understand that everything is in motion and needs a force to move, assessing their comprehension through observations of object measurements. Differentiation strategies include providing English learners and students with special needs extra visual and printed materials to support learning.

LESSON: Integrating Science Lesson

For this assignment, I will use a lesson plan that was created for Physical Science/Motion

on Motion and forces all around us. I will revise this lesson plan in order to include reading, writing,

and math into this lesson plan. I will also be using the 5E lesson plan template to revise this lesson

plan to show different ways that I would incorporate all of these aspects.

Rationale:

I realized there were opportunities to combine math, reading, and writing after reading

the second-grade lesson on force and motion. When learning in a scientific classroom, having

these three things is crucial since they will help you understand more about each unique

subject. Additionally, I wanted to include more exercises that would keep the students interested

in the subject matter and motivated to learn more about force and motion. To help them

understand motion and connect the experience to the memory, I would add the hands-on craft

of building the airplane. This is something that, when I was in primary school, really helped me

to remember. Therefore, providing your students with hands-on learning opportunities is crucial

since it increases their motivation to study and aids in their retention of the material. With the

push and pull smartboard exercise, I will also broaden the students' understanding of the

subject. They will continue to be interested in the subject matter and learn more as a result of

this. There are several activities included that will keep them interested while teaching them

more about the push and pull approach. Because it will be more useful to them, I have the

students read the informational material in big groups so that we may pull it up on the

promethium board and pause to highlight the vocabulary terms.
