Assignment 1.

Rabindranath Tagore adage stated, “The significance which is in unity is


an eternal wonder.” Relatively, art is created through unity of creativity,
imagination, and expression of a person.

In the visual, numerous hands holding together in a form of human


brain is shown with a black and white complexion. Creativity, imagination,
and expression is depicted as well. In essence, creativity is an ability to
create something which can inspire and inform people in an aesthetically
pleasing manner, (Sarellano, 2010). In the visual, creativity is shown by
using symbolism such as the hands, the brain, and the black and white
color. Hand symbolizes strength, power, and protection while a brain
symbolizes intelligence or ideas leading to innovations. So, the symbolism
made the visual creative as it relays a message through the piece, and the
color used embodies emotions. Moreover, Talamayan (2017) defined
imagination as ideas built from speculation, teachings, and perception.
Based on the visual above, imagination is presented through the creation
of human brain by using numerous hands holding together. It also came
with the idea which is perhaps, the artist’s perception in the society,
creation, and innovation. Additionally, there is expression in the visual. As
defined from Britannica (n.d.), expression in art requires a willful medium in
order to relay a message to the viewer or listener. The art above depicted
expression through the medium of hand and brain in black and white color.
The emotion of the visual added to the expression it depicts as it appeared
emotional or desirable of something.
Indeed, an artwork is done with creativity, imagination, and
expression. As I saw the image, I realized that it held variety of functions
such as personal, social, and aesthetic. In my opinion, it is personal
because the artist made it to express his perception. It is aesthetic as it
allows me, a viewer, to appreciate an artwork, evaluate it, and the visual
itself communicates as viewed. Lastly, the visual has a social function as it
delivers a message about how socialization forms collaboration. With the
presence of collaboration, more ideas may be turned into a great, bigger,
and innovative concept for the society. Relatively, looking at the artwork
above reminded me of the word “unity”. If people are united amongst
diversity, the world will be more analytical in the run. Together, people are
strong enough to create something out of their collaborative ideas. With
united power, strength, and protection, the society might function in a
better and peaceful manner. However, I also noticed that the visual is in
black and white color in a black background. Personally, it appealed like a
desire in the absence of light to me. The artist is aspiring for a world where
people are united and working together, which leads to exemplary ideas
which are helpful for everyone.
Henceforth, a person’s feelings towards something ignites ideas
which is transformed into imaginations. It then led to creativity and
expression. In the sense of creation, we can contribute to the world we live
in, communicate what we cannot say, and inspire others. Everything we
have is art, it just depends on how we are going to perceive it. Additionally,
we are art in the bigger artwork we belong (the society) because we are
contributing to it by filling a void, creating from gaps, and discovering out
of curiosity. Truthfully, the visual reminds us that what we have came from
our own thinking and creation.
