ABSTRACT

DOMINIC NOEL C. AGUILAR, MIKO S. FABRICANTE, JOHN PAUL E.

PACTORANAN, PIERRE ANTONI D. PRESTADO, CHRISTIAN TROY T.
SALAMANQUE, “MOTIVATION OF GRADUATING FEMALE SENIOR
HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO PURSUE MARINE TRANSPORTATION
CAREER,” (Research Paper, Mariners’ Polytechnic Colleges Foundation
of Canaman, Cam. Sur, Inc., June 2022)
The researchers’ purpose for this study is to identify the factors that
motivate and hinder the female senior high school students from choosing
the BSMT (Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation) as their choice
of career.
The researchers chose the qualitative research and used the
descriptive method in gathering the data from the respondents. The
respondents are also from MPCF (Mariners’ Polytechnic Colleges
Foundation) and the researchers chose the online survey which is the
google forms survey questionnaire in order to maintain the health
protocols. In selecting the population, the researchers used the non-
probability sampling.
According to the results that the researchers gathered, the
respondents have low opinion of BSMT (Bachelor of Science in Marine
Transportation). As a conclusion, the graduating female senior high school
students thought that BSMT (Bachelor of Science in Marine
Transportation) is only for male and only one of the six (6) respondents
chose BSMT (Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation) and only few
individuals have motivations in choosing BSMT (Bachelor of Science in
Marine Transportation).
For major recommendations of this study, the researchers
recommend that the students must not worry and choose their desired
course/career. For the school administration, the researchers recommend
that the administration should be more open for the students. For the
parents, the researchers recommend that they should be less worried for
their daughters in choosing their own paths. For the future researchers,
the researchers recommend that they should formulate the problem of
their study by also considering the population or the target respondents in
order

to make their research easier. For the instructors, the researchers

recommend that they should become more welcoming especially for the
aspiring female students in BSMT (Bachelor of Science in Marine
Transportation).
