In response to Regional Memorandum No. 76, s. 2022 with the title “Administration of the Philippine Informal Reading Inventory (Phil-IRI) Pretest,” the Schools Division of Oriental Mindoro through the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID) informs the field of the administration of the Philippine Informal Reading Inventory (Phil-IRI) Pretest among elementary and secondary learners in public elementary and secondary schools from September 6-30, 2022. 2. The Phil-IRI, which is used as a classroom-based assessment tool, aims to measure and describe the learners’ reading performance in both English and Filipino languages in oral reading, silent reading, and listening comprehension. ‘These three types of assessment aim to determine the learner’s reading level whether independent, instructional or frustration. 3. The Phil-IRI shall also serve as one of the bases in planning, designating/redesigning the reading instruction of the teachers and the school reading programs or activities to improve the overall school reading performance. 4. _ For schools implementing progressive in-person classes, the pretest shall be administered through the in-person class modality, while those adopting the distance learning delivery modalities shall use online, hybrid, or clustered modalities in the administration of Phil-IRI pretest. 4 Sta. The health and safety protocols shail be observed in the administration of Phi- IRI pretest. 6. Learners who are identified under frustration level shall be provided with necessary interventions such as but not limited to intensive remediation and school- home partnership. 7. Teachers are advised to utilize the link: https:/ /tinyurl.com/58hrpch4 where they can download the following: a. Full package of Phil-IRI tool; b. Reading text for grades 7-10; and c. Template for the preparation of Phil-IRI reports in English and Filipino in Microsoft Excel with sub-folders containing the template for school, district, division, and summary of the Regional Office report. 8. The summary of the Phil-IRI pretest report shall be consolidated by the District Phil-IRI/English/Filipino Coordinators in coordination with the assigned Public Schools District Supervisor. Administrative Officer in each district is requested to assist the District Phil-IRI/Reading Coordinators in the preparation of the Phil-IRI District reports. 9. Microsoft Excel shall be used in the preparation of the reports; hard and electronic copies of which shall be submitted to the Office of the Curriculum Implementation Division on or before October 3, 2022.
