Arithmetic Sequence

Here are the steps to find the indicated term in each arithmetic sequence: 1) Find the common difference (d) 2) Use the formula: an - a1 = (n-1)d 3) Solve for n 4) The nth term will be the indicated term So for example, in sequence 1, the common difference is 4. Plugging into the formula: 260 - 4 = (n-1)4. Solving for n gives the 13th term.

Arithmetic sequence

• A sequence where each succeeding term by adding a

fixed number, and the fixed number is called common
difference d.
• Is a sequence in which each term after the first
obtained by adding a fixed number to the previous.
• A sequence whose consecutive terms have a common
difference.
