Now, let’s proceed to the last group, the

Group 4.
(Students will clap their hands)

Great job, Group 4! You also got the

correct answers. Clap your hands for
them.

I am so glad that all of the group got the

correct answers. It seems that you really
understand the lesson. You all deserve a
big round of applause.

3. Abstraction For me, it is when the heat transfers from

one place to another.
Our topic for the day is “heat transfer”.
Now let’s start our discussion. First, what
comes to your mind when you heard the
word “heat transfer”?

Any idea, class?

Yes, Louise?
Remember: Heat transfers naturally flow
from a body of higher temperature to a
Yes! That’s somehow correct in the sense body of a lower temperature.
that the heat is being transfer from one
body to another. A difference in temperature, Ma’am.

Heat transfer is a phenomenon related to

change in temperature or a change in the
relative hotness or coldness of an object.

Please read the “remember note” on the

screen.
The three methods are radiation,
conduction, and convection.
That’s right. Therefore, we can say that
for heat transfer to occur, there must be
what?
Radiation is the transfer of heat in rays,

Yes, Martini? Yes Ma’am.

Okay, so what is radiation? Please read

through direct contact. It occurs anytime
when objects of different temperatures
touch each other.

If the heat travels in all direction, it means

it’s a radiation. For example, the radiation
from the sun. You experience it, right?

All boys, please read what is conduction.

Ma’am, the spoon will not be hot.

So, we can say that as long as the

object equalizes or the same. One of the
examples, is the activity performed by
Group 2. If they don’t touch the spoon,
they will not feel the heat. And if the
spoon is not on top of the candle, what Insulator
will happen? Anyone?

Very good, Jose.

Wood, Styrofoam, Paper
We also have conductor. What is a
conductor, class? Please read.

Examples of good conductor are copper, It is the up and down movement of gases
silver, iron, and steel. and liquids caused by heat transfer.

If there is a conductor, what term is used

if it doesn’t transmit heat? It is called
what?

Right! It is the total opposite of conductor.

And what are the examples of an
insulator? Kindly read.

Okay. And the last method of heat

transfer is convection. What is
convection? Please read all girls.

As the gas or a liquid is heated, it warms

and expands, and rises because it is less
dense. When the gas or liquid cools, it
becomes denser and falls. As the gas or
liquid warms and rises, or cools and falls,
it creates a convection current.

Based on the picture shown, this is the

convection current. What is your
observation based on the picture? The red arrow goes up, while the blue
arrow is going down.

Anyone from the class? Yes Ma’am

Okay, Georgia?
None Ma’am

Good observation, Georgia! The red

arrow represents the as heated air rises,
it pulls the cooler air into its place, which
represents by the blue arrow, where the
latter can be heated, then rises and pulls
in more cool air.

Did you understand what is heat transfer

and its different methods?
It is an energy in transmit Ma’am in which

That’s good to hear class.

4. Application

Since we are done discussing heat

transfer and its different methods. I want
to ask someone to give me the definition
of heat transfer.

Anyone? Shekinah?

Correct! Now, I am holding 3 pictures and

you are going to identify what method of
heat transfer is occurring.

Picture 1

Possible Answer:
Picture 1: Radiation
Picture 2: Conduction
Picture 3: Convection

Picture 2
