V. Course Description:

Overview in Information Technology, computer fundamentals and topics related to computers and its applications. Includes DOS (Disk Operating Systems)
Windows, Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint.

Program Outcomes:

The students will get to know the basic computer operations and the students will also acquire the necessary skills in creating documents and presentations.
With this course, students will get acquainted of the new computer of the new computer applications and gain knowledge of its usage.

Program Learning Outcomes/Objectives:


A graduate of Computer Science has the ability to:
1. provide students with an understanding and appreciation of the societal consequences of technology, including computers, and of the ethical issues that
may arise with new technologies;
2. prepare students who will have the theoretical, practical, and professional knowledge to be immediately productive upon entering the workforce or advanced
study;
3. demonstrate awareness of emerging technologies and the ability to evaluate and utilize currently available software development tools;
4. show an ability to acquire new knowledge in the computing discipline and to engage in life-long learning;
5. provide a strong grounding in the body of knowledge and theories of computer science;
6. understand and apply these essential concepts, principles and practices, showing judgment in the selection, design and application of tools and techniques;

At the end of this study, the students are expected to:


a. analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions;
b. design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline;
c. communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts;
d. recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles;
e. function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline;
f. apply computer science theory and software development fundamentals to produce computing-based solutions.

At the end of the course, the Computer Science student can:

3. equip with knowledge on how to use the DOS Commands, MS Word and MS PowerPoint;
