Philosophy
Philosophy of the SCN encompasses the Islamic philosophy of education and the aim of
nursing education defined by the International Council of Nurses. Accordingly, the college
concentrates to develop commitment in learners towards the basic religious values and
beliefs whilst providing care to individuals of all ages, families, and communities, sick or
well in all settings as well as to promote, maintain and restore health.
However I also hear that “Nurses don't get the I welcome all of you who are planning to start
respect they deserve”. This is partly true. In fact their carrier to serve the sick and ailing
the respect of a professional comes from the humanity. You have made the choice of the right

Classrooms learning
The classrooms are air-conditioned and equipped with Multimedia,
LEDs, and whiteboards.
Skills Lab
Skills lab is an integral part of clinical learning where nursing students
earn a variety of psychomotor skills.
Skills lab provides an opportunity for the students to strengthen
their critical thinking and decision making skills under the
supervision of their teachers.
Learning psychomotor skills in the lab also facilitate students to
gain confidence before performing any procedure on the real
patient. After the initial training in Skills lab, the students are
sent for clinical practice to the hospital where they work under
the supervision of the faculty and registered nurses.
Science Lab
Shifa College of Nursing provides the facility of separate Science Lab
where students can perform basic science experiments. The science lab
provides students with necessary skills and technologies for laboratory
based investigations within biological and life sciences areas. The
laboratory is well equipped with analytical laboratory techniques and
equipments specifically in the subjects of Biochemistry, Life sciences
and Microbiology. It enables the nursing students to explore a variety of
laboratory techniques to be prepared and trained for the clinical set up.
Computer Lab
For all computer related work student utilize SCN computer lab.
Students also have the internet facility in the computer lab.
In addition, students also rotate through different local sites of interest like slaughter house,
pharmaceutical companies, Edhi Center, Lok Virsa etc.
The office also serves as a liaison between the college and parents. Student progress reports and attendance status are regularly sent to the parents as well
as to the sponsoring agencies.
For the smooth coordination between parents and college all the parents/ guardians are requested to update their mailing addresses, contacts and email
IDs with Student Affairs all the time. Student's personal particulars and academic data are maintained with confidentiality in the Department of Student
Affairs Office.
Hostel Facility
Hostel facility is available for female students.
Sponsorship
Shifa International hospital offers merit based sponsorship for the students.
Cafeteria
The students of SCN have an opportunity to avail the economy meal from the campus cafeteria.
The BSN Program fosters nursing knowledge, skills and professional attitude.
The main focus of the program is to prepare knowledgeable, clinically competent professional nurses
who will be able to provide comprehensive care at primary, secondary and tertiary levels within
hospitals and community settings. The program imparts theoretical knowledge and skills which are
grounded in evidence based practice to ensure safe and high quality nursing care. In addition to
theoretical knowledge and skills, the program aims to enhance critical thinking, decision making and
communication skills.
Eligibility Criteria:
Matric with Science (Physics, Biology and Chemistry as compulsory subjects)
Fsc (Pre- Medical) with 50% marks minimum (Physics, Chemistry and Biology as compulsory subjects) OR
A Level Certification accompanied by an equivalent certificate from Inter Board Committee of Chairman (IBCC).
Applicants between age of 17-35 years can apply.

The entire program is spread over 6 semesters. Total credit hours for overall program are 60. The
program is recognized by the Pakistan Nursing Council. The Post-RN BSN program is a three-year
program designed for experienced Registered Nurses. This program provides an opportunity to
acquire in-depth knowledge and skills needed for clinically competent professional nurses.
Eligibility Criteria :
Following qualification is necessary for an applicant to be eligible for consideration
Matric with Science ( Biology, Chemistry and Physics as compulsory subjects).
Diploma in General nursing.
01 year post basic diploma in midwifery or any other speciality.
01 year Clinical Experience.
Passing entry test and interview of the College.
Valid registration of all professional qualifications with PNC.
Note:
As per the HEC decision , those Nurses who have completed diploma in General Nursing or 4 year BSN before
June 30, 2016 without science subject in their Matric or Intermediate may also apply for Post RN and MSN
as the case may be.

Ordinance at the rate of 5% if annual fee/charges exceed Rs. 200,000/- for a year.
Fee Refund Statutes and Policy on collection / charging of Advance Tax are placed on the Official Website of the University.
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), with a minimum CGPA 3.0 (out of 4.0 in the Semester System) or
First Division (in the Annual System) from HEC and PNC recognized institutes/universities.
MSN equivalent for foreigner students, such as Nurse practitioner
The applicant must have taken the following courses in their MSN program:
Nursing Theories
Biostatistics
IELTS Academic score 6.5, and not less than 6 in any component
Passing Entry test and interview of the college
As per the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan, the PhD program shall have a minimum
course work of 18 credit hours that is preferably completed in the first year of the study, followed by a
comprehensive examination and synopsis defense for granting candidacy as PhD researcher. The
curriculum at SCN consists of 22 credits (18 credits course work plus 2 seminars of 2 credits each). A
brief overview of the courses, their credits, focus of the courses are stated in the table below:

Submission of online
Entrance Test and Interviews
All the eligible candidates are required to appear for Shifa entrance
admission form
test. The test assesses ability to carry on the studies and clinical
requirements of the college.
Scrutiny of documents The BSN candidates will be tested for English, Mathematics, basic
sciences and analytical portion.
The candidates for post RN and MSN will be tested for English,
Mathematics, problem solving and basic nursing concepts. (Sample test

Confirmation of Admission
All the selected candidates will be required to confirm their intent to
Shortlist for interview join the college by depositing the admission, tuition and other fees as
prescribed, by the college within given time period.
