Explain basic differences between teaching method approaches and techniques.

Teaching method is referred to a strategy, also an overall plan for systematic

presentation of a lesson, orderly logical arrangement OEM steps. As a teacher this is my
lesson plan or for now this is my Weekly Home Learning Plan since it is pandemic and we
are using modular distance learning in our school. It consists of my planning activity from
the beginning up to the end whether if I will be using direct, indirect, interactive,
constructivist, and many other approaches. Teaching technique is referred to a task or
activity or a well-defined procedure used to accomplish a specific activity, a teachers
particular style or trick. As a teacher I can compare it to my learning objectives. It is how
I chooses activities to ensure the achievement of my objectives and be executed in
classroom or in student and learning process. Teaching Approach referred to beliefs and
theories about the nature of the learner and the process of learning, this is a set of
principles, beliefs or ideas about nature of learning. As a teacher, I should have a basis
before doing anything, student’s background, multiple intelligences, level of confidence,
etc.

Both teaching method and teaching approaches is important in teaching and learning
process since we are facing different type or other ways to learn.

Can we apply laboratory method in teaching sports?

When you hear the word laboratory method the first thing comes in our
mind would be science and experiments. Though it’s true but we can also use laboratory
method for teaching sports, if science has its own laboratory room, PE teachers have
Gymnasium used for students to have their first hand learning experiences. Gymnasium is a
large room used for various indoor sports and dance such as basketball, badminton, sepak
takraw, etc. We used Gymnasium for our students to have actual experience so that their
learning will become meaningful.

In what particular topics in health can you apply project method? Name at
least five topics.

Basics of First Aid (Video of Simple Demonstration of students

performing first aid to simple accidents in school like abrasion,
heat exhaustion, etc.)
Dressing and Bandages ( Photo Compilation of students doing
different dressing and bandages)
Community Health Problems ( Simple Action Plan)
Community and Environmental Health (Poster Making about how
can you teach your classmates or unaware individuals in your
community about responsibility of every individual in our
community and environment.)
Intentional Injuries (Promotion through social media by drafting a
short but powerful message in their social media platform about a
MESSAGE FOR A VIOLENCE-FREE WORLD )

What is common between demonstration and expository method?

The common between demonstration and expository method is that the teacher is
the source of knowledge and information to learn, it is presented by the teacher in a
specific order and requires procedural knowledge and it involves simple to complex skills.
Though it have common in such way that the teacher most commonly give learning to our
students they have big difference that expository approach/direct method/lecture
method acquire procedural knowledge refers to the skills needed in the performance of a
task for example playing basketball, the students will fully rely his/her learning to the
teacher or what we call teacher-centered approach and it falls underLESS THEM (them
refers to students) MORE US (us refers to teachers). While demonstration method
employed in presenting lessons that use sophisticated equipment and technical knowhow,
this is a learner-centered and learning by doing, the student will try or execute task able
for them to learn and easily remember the lesson by their own. The students in
demonstration approach fall with THINK-MAKE-IMPROVE because they think (while
lecturing and doing the task) make (on hand learning/learning by doing) improve (learn from
their own/learn from their mistakes to improve)

Do we confined our method to demonstration in teaching gymnastic and dance?

No, we do not confined our own method to demonstration in teaching gymnastic and
dance because every learner have different multiple intelligences and teacher also have
different teaching styles, approaches, method and techniques so that how can we confined
or limit our own method and also limit our students way of learning.

Gymnastics and dance are both hard to learn if you don’t have talents, skill or any
interest on it. So that teacher should motivate learners able for them to acquire skills or
learnings that they want. For example my lesson is about Cha Cha Cha, the first thing I
always do is to motivate my learners, able for their mind to be set in the aim or objective
of our lesson. Next is to distinguish the learner that have bodily kinaesthetic intelligence
so that I will assigned them as the leader of each group, next member in a group should
have music smart member so that it’s not hard in a group to choose and mix their music.
People smart is also a must because they will be the one to balance the team by
communicating each group member. And lastly the learners that their multiple intelligence
are not said above are the last member. So each group will be balance and pull each other
to reach the objective of the lesson and get better result. My basis is always the learner’s
multiple intelligences and learners wants and interest.

These are the things I am considering with my lesson, if I will limit myself and my
students it cannot be called learning, I think it is just a compliance because it is like
treating learners and teachers like a robot.

Can we apply problem method on teaching MAPEH?

HEALTH

 Intentional Injuries such as bullying(verbal, physical, social, cyberbullying)

This topic is common nowadays especially in teenagers, which is the most crucial
part of their growing up.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

 Physical Fitness Test( Body Mass Index, Underweight, Normal, Overweight, Obese)
This topic is common and pass to old generation up to now wherein it is the Body
Mass Index of one individual.
MUSIC

 Understanding Female and Male Voice in Romantic Period

This is a common problem of the teenager wherein they don’t know their voice
classification. Also puberty affects their voices.

ARTS

 Colors or Hues for paintings.

Mixing of Colors because some of our learners are not familiar with the primary and
secondary colors.

Why is it important to develop caring relationships in the class?

Positive teacher-student relationships lead to increased cooperation and

engagement in the classroom. It creates positive environment and strong teacher
relationships lead to student engagement in class. I can feel that if there is a positive
relationship among me and my students they will likely trust me more, show more
engagement in learning, behave better in my class and achieve at higher levels
academically. It also has long lasting implication for my students’ academic and social
development.

Give at least 2 out of 8 verbal/non-verbal interventions you can apply to address

misbehaviour in the classroom.

What I used commonly in my class is the public rule reminder and warning of
consequences. Well I used to set rules in my class in our first meeting; how should they
behave, what should they accomplished, overview of the whole grade 9 MAPEH subject,
etc. So that they were aware in their doings when they are in my class. Public rule
reminder is very effective when it comes to higher grade level students such as grade 9
because students don’t want to be embarrasses in front of everybody, so that when I
reminded them something in public they will follow and at the same time the warning of
consequences is always reminded to them. Now in the new normal education, the only way
to contact students through text message, group chats and home visitation so that the
only discipline I can used is the public rule reminder when they misbehave in our group
chats. Private rule reminder, giving them disciplinary measures in their private accounts,
through communicating with personal numbers of guardians and through visiting them and
guiding what to do. Encountering different problems is not new to me/ us from Magsaysay
National High School because we are always giving time to visit students especially those
that do not attend classes because they are the bread winner of the family in the age of
15 that needs to feed his/her siblings by planting rice and other crops, fishing, labourer
etc. Some of them are members of indigenous people so that they need proper assistance
and one by one tutoring from us, we tend to visit some place in the mountains to reach
them or travel in an island to talk to them.

There are different attitudes of learners that we/teachers need to handle and find a
way to correct to mould them and be a better version of themselves.

Preventive Models in handling misbehaviour in the classroom.

a. “certainty of consequences is more important than severity.

Example: James you received zero for today’s activity.

We are not in the later time wherein punishment takes place if any wrong doings
committed because it can affect our student’s mental and social health and of course they
are protected with different laws. But at least we can find different way to make them
realize that we are not a simple as they think. But then again punishment is last resort for
teachers.

b. “broken record strategy”

Example: James stand up, say something that you learn today.

James stand up, tell me something that you learn today.

It conveys a repeated statement able for the learners understand that you mean what you
say. Teacher here should be firm and clear and conveys a message that no sense of
remorse. It tends to work well in situations where people want to argue and don’t want to
listen.

c. “high level of involvement equals low level disturbance”

Example: Giving group activities that everyone is involve. (Dance, poem, slogan, etc.)

The students are more active when topics caught their interest, when topics needs their
opinion like debate, so that this preventive model is very effective especially when the
learners willingly involve themselves in the activity. Rather than giving them 1 hour lecture
it makes them bored, a sign that they need to talk to someone so that they can’t sleep in
class, annoy you and their classmates for no reason.

This is like activity involvement versus class discussion.

d. “focus on task rather than misbehaviour”

Example: James please focus on answering your exam, so your classmates can
finished it too.

When disciplining learners, teachers should be very careful when it comes to offending our
learners. So instead of direct statement that they were misbehaving, we teachers go with
the most positive side on how we are going to discipline them. We are not in the later time
wherein punishment takes place if any wrong doings committed because it can affect our
student’s mental and social health and of course they are protected with different laws.

e. “getting tough behaviour to prevent misbehaviour”

`Example: Be firm with your decision, tell them rules to abide. If they fail to follow
they will be punished in accordance with the law of the classroom.

(It’s either clean, water plants, etc.)

Teacher should be the most powerful facilitator in the classroom so that student will
follow what the teacher wants. Teachers also needs to inflict rules the first time that we
meet our students. We can be their friend but the respect will always be there, we should
teach them the boundaries of a teacher-student relationship.

What is the main idea behind constructivist method?

For me, the main idea behind constructivist method is, it is like a link way that
connects two buildings. For someone to be able to go to another building accessibly s/he
needs to walk through the link way. In the same way, in constructivist method, for the
students to come up and grasp new and pivotal ideas, s/he needs to link or to connect old
ideas and experiences to present information and experiences. For example in PE class, the
constructivist teacher will teach about how to play badminton. The teacher may asks the
students if they experience, have background knowledge and know how to play badminton.
Then, the teacher will group his/her, let the students watch and have knowledge about
badminton through the use of video and about rules in playing badminton. The
constructivist teacher gives the students guided questions and let the students discuss
their ideas and perception to their group. After that, the teacher let his/her students to
play badminton.

The teacher will be the facilitator of learning, assist students and make sure that
his/her student learn at the end of the day.

Illustrate how music can be taught in integrative teaching approach?

Integrative teaching approach is an integration of different learning areas

that you taught. In my case, I can integrate teaching music in many areas such as
the history or Araling Panlipunan, I will story tell the life of different composers
in each period, what they do, what their music contribute to the present music now.
I can also integrate music in mathematics by providing a graph wherein the music of
different period from the year of their peek up to the present times. Ex: Music of
Baroque Period year 1685-1750 in the graphs shows 100 percent popularity the year
2020-2021 the graph shows that it has the lowest views and less popular nowadays
because it only has 13 percent. It can also be integrated in language such as English
and Filipino, there were word that is in Latin so that I pick those words and let my
student guess its English and Filipino translation and let them define the word they
discover.
Subject integration in Music depends upon the topic and teachers knowledge
about the lesson. I uses integration because it will always caught the attention of
my learner so that I uses integration as one of my activity doing student and
learning process.

How can you apply in teaching physical fitness in the contextualized approach?

Contextualized approach I think is something that modifies activities through or

with the use of their multiple intelligences as the basis. For me, I will give them task that
they can use in everyday living, activities that they can relate. For example, I have topics
like Physical Fitness Activities like exercise then I would come up with the activity named
EVERYDAY CHOICE (I will let them write all the activities that they do, like what they do
the first thing in the morning, everyday household chores) This activity helps me to
categorize and know the needs of my students to be physically fit in just simple activities
at home that they always do. From the activity EVERYDAY CHOICE I will develop and
enhance activities (like household chores) that they write to become more accurate and be
fun to do. My next Activity would be Exercises using Household Chores, they will make a
dance pattern using the common activities/task at home.

that is very common nowadays?
 Substance Used and Abuse (Cigarettes and Alcohol)
As a student, how can you promote awareness in prevention of substance used and
abuse like cigarettes and alcohol?
 Environmental Problems in the Philippines
As a student do you think we can still have the chance to restore what was lost in
the environment?
 Myths and Misconception of Drug Abuse
Do you believe in the different myths and misconceptions? Why or why not? Explain
your answer.
 Intentional Injuries (Illegal Fraternity)
As a teenager, why do you think is their common reasons why they join illegal
fraternity? If one of your friend join the fraternity what advice can you give
him/her? What should you do if you see that his/her life becomes miserable after
joining?
