A decision table is a tabular representation of rules where each row represents a rule and each column represents a condition. When all conditions in a rule evaluate to true for input data, the specified output is selected. Decision tables are part of the Decision Model and Notation (DMN) standard and this document presents a template and examples of decision tables based on a case study of Maria's Chocolate Candies.

DECISION TABLES

A decision table is a compact, tabular representation of a set of rules.

Each numbered row is a rule and each column represents one of the conditions of that rule in an input
expression.
When all the conditions in a particular rule evaluate to be true for a set of input data, the output label
specified for that rule is selected.
In case multiple rules apply to a specific context, the HIT INDICATOR defines which one must be used
(or in what order in case of multiple outputs).
Decision Tables are part of DMN (Decision Model and Notation) standardized by OMG.
