E. LESSON PROPER:

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY

• Before doing anything, listen to your teacher’s instruction to prevent accidents or
any unwanted events that may occur on your workplace.
• Do not work on computer when you are wet because you might get electrocuted.
• Do not remove internal devices of the computer when it is turned on.
• Be sure not to mix electronic components and water.
• Avoid playing or running while inside the room.
• Always wear personal protective equipments (PPE) like coverall, shoes with rubber
sole, anti-static wrist strap, etc.
• Ask for assistance from your teacher when it comes on dealing with computer
devices.
• Applying safety measure when handling tools and equipment are necessary to
avoid certain damages.

Basic Hand Tools and Materials

Connectors - It is used to connect external devices to the computer system.
Adapters - It is used to connect external devices to the computer system.
Screw Drivers - It is used to fasten screws.
Pliers – it is used for cutting and Trimming Wires
Multi-tester – used to measure current, voltage & resistance.
Crimping Tool – used to crimp network Cables
Anti-static wrist wrap – it absorbs the static electricity of the material when being hold
by the hands.

A computer system - is composed of main hardware components in order to run

accurately and efficiently.

COMPUTER HARDWARE COMPONENTS

INPUT DEVICES - Is any peripheral (a piece of hardware equipment) used to provide
data and control signals into an information processing system such
as computer and etc.
Examples:
 Keyboard
 Mouse
 Scanners
 Digital Cameras
 Joystick
OUTPUT DEVICES - Is any peripheral used to communicate the results of data
processing carried out by an information processing system.
Example:
 Monitor
 Projector
 Printer
 Speaker
STORAGE DEVICES - A device for recording information, which could range from
handwriting to video or acoustic recording, or to electromagnetic
energy modulating magnetic tape and optical discs
Example:
 RAM (Random Access Memory)
 Floppy Disks
 USB flash drives
 Memory Cards
 ROM (Read Only Memory)

PROCESSOR - The Central Processing Unit (CPU), also called a processor, is located
inside the computer case on the motherboard. It is sometimes called
the brain of the computer, and its job is to carry out commands.
Whenever you press a key, click the mouse, or start an application,
you're sending instructions to the CPU

What’s Inside the Computer?

1. CPU/Processor
2. Motherboard
3. Power Supply
4. RAM (Random Access Memory
5. Hard disk drive
6. Video Card

c. ABSTRACTION:
Input data capture data from the real world then pass this data to the CPU and then
the CPU sends data to output devices such as monitors or speaker. The CPU sends
data to RAM and also gets data and program instructions back from RAM. If the
CPU wants to store data or get back data from a storage device, all data must go via
RAM.

a. APPLICATION:
Online Activity: Navigate Online Classroom providing with the internet
connectivity to share their understanding about the lessons posted in their
classwork.
Group Activity: Learnings apply their knowledge by sharing their ideas regarding
the Basic Computer Hand Tools and Materials to be used during Installation of
Computer Hardware and Discuss it in front of their classmates.
IV. EVALUATION:

Checking of student’s presentation based on the rubric:

Agreement:

How to install computer peripherals? Choose one among of the Computer Peripherals and
discuss.
