Course overview and objectives
The course is a 3- day interactive training course aimed at giving trainees an overview of the
fundamental pillars of Reliability and Maintenance, as defined by the Society of Maintenance and
Reliability Professionals.
Separately from the course, an examination for the SMRP certification of the Certified Maintenance and
Reliability Professional test will be organized right after the conclusion of the course.
Each course module covers one of the 5 pillars of a Reliable Manufacturing Organization, as defined by
the Society of Maintenance and Reliability Professionals (SMRP) body of knowledge for the CMRP
certification.
For individuals that are new to the world of Reliability and Maintenance, the course will provide an
overview of aspects to master. For individuals aiming to take the CMRP test, the course will provide a
refresher prior to the separate test session.
The Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) program is the primary certification
program for, the skills, knowledge, and abilities of Maintenance and Reliability Professionals. Assessing
more than just textbook knowledge, the exam tests and validates the skills and abilities of maintenance
and reliability professionals according to the objective Body of Knowledge.
The areas examined are:
Business and Management
Covering how to translate business goals into maintenance and reliability goals that support an
organization’s business results.
Equipment Reliability
Assessing capabilities of equipment and processes used to select and apply the most appropriate
maintenance practices to ensure a safe and cost-effective delivery.
Manufacturing Process Reliability
Applying proven, current methods and new data-driven analytical technologies to support optimum
manufacturing process.
Organization and Leadership
of the maintenance and reliability staff as the most qualified and best assigned to achieve the
maintenance
and reliability organizational goals.
Work Management
Focusing on the skills used to get maintenance and reliability work done, including: planning and
scheduling, quality assurance and store inventory management.
The CMRP program is the only certification program of its kind accredited by the American
National Standards Institute (ANSI).

How the course will be conducted


This course is an active exchange between attendees and the instructor, using actual
examples and exercises that are directly applicable to the body of knowledge.
Approximately 45% of time is spent on the core instructional presentation.
Approximately 55% of the time is spent on exercises, discussions and direct application
examples.

The instructor and participants have an ongoing dialogue to ensure that concepts and
methods taught are retained and can be put into use by the participants.

Adam is chartered engineer, skilled in asset management with experience of major capital
projects globally. His main area of focus is on asset management of all facilities across the
value chain. He has held both engineering and management consultant roles in oil majors and
consultancies as well as having held P+L responsibility for major projects and focused on
combining both technical and tactical responsibilities, building and maintaining a cohesive
team, and delivering value to the customers. Adam is currently the global principal consultant
for total reliability, leading a group of maintenance and reliability professionals, providing
technical and leadership consultancy services to asset intensive industries. Providing training,
coaching, teaching services to multinational organizations working in power generation,
water, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing.
