This document provides guidelines and instructions for a group assignment on contract law for a General Principles of Law course. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this assignment is to assess students understanding on the basic principles relating to formation of contracts. GUIDELINES 1. This group project contributes ten percent (10%) of the coursework marks. 2. The assignment MUST BE in essay form. No point form is allowed. But, table form is allowed. 3. This assignment MUST BE computer typewritten (word document): a. b. c. d. Font Font size Spacing Margins - Top - Bottom - Left - Right : Arial : 12 : 1.5 : 1 : 1 : 1 : 1

4. Minimum pages is twenty (20) [not included content, bibliography, and appendixes) and the maximum pages is forty (40). 5. Cover of the assignment MUST BE in accordance with Appendix 1 (attached below). 6. Use A4 size paper only and the assignment MUST BE in binding form (at least using ring binding but not staples). 7. The last date of submission hardcopy is on or before the 29th JULY, 2011 before 5:30p.m (week 8). You are also required to submit the softcopy through email. (This is important as back up in case your assignment is misplaced and as a proof that you did submit the assignment). 8. 9. No marks will be awarded for late submission and no extension of time is allowed. Copying and cheating will also NOT be awarded any mark.

10. You may include any necessary things to make your assignment interesting.

INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Form a group which consists of five (5) members and e-mail their names to the respective lecturer. 2. Each group must find an original agreement or contract (such as hire-purchase agreement; sale and purchase agreement; rental agreement; PTPTN loan agreement; etc). Each group must have different types of agreement. No similarity or redundancy is allowed. Samples form the internet or blank documents are also not allowed. QUESTION 1. Analyze the selected agreement and identify from the said agreement the following: (a) (b) (c) (d) Promisor & promisee; Consideration; Duty of the promisor; and Duty of the promisee (4 marks) (4 marks) (6 marks) (6 marks)

Note: Another 10 marks reserved for well organized and structured answer, good introduction and conclusion, creativity, following the format, etc. TOTAL: 50 marks
