Accomplishment Report

With the ongoing COVID restrictions, it is evident that the normality of most of the

population has changed. Consequently, the COVID-19 pandemic has also made its significant

impact on the economy and the food supply of our community. Due to the limited supply of

common goods and local crops, as well as minimal access to essential market, this led to

people being in dire situations.

One solution to the problem that has been stated is home gardening. This project is

beneficial to communities and families and can continue to serve its purpose even after the

pandemic if regulated and well-maintained. Considering the benefits that this project offers, it is

non-debatable that it can somehow alleviate the burden that the pandemic had caused.

July 11, 2022, marks the start of my home gardening journey. Prior to planting the

plants, necessary steps were implemented to make sure that the garden will be effective in

achieving its purpose. Purchasing of seeds and pots, collection of soil, and researching effective

planting methods were done in the first few days. After which, I proceeded to plant the seeds.

The plants chosen were (1) Chili, (2) Onion, (3) Garlic, (4) Alugbating Pula, (5) Alugbating Puti,

(6) Beans, (7) Ampalaya, (8) Tomato, (9) Kalamans, (10) Corn, (11) Okra, (12) Kalabasa, (13)

Bell Pepper, (14) Ginger, (15) Suha, (16) Lipote, (17) Bataw, (18) Mangga, (19) Dragon Fruit,

(20) Papaya, and (21) Pechay. Such plants were selected based on their accessibility and

nutritional benefits.

Each plant was watered and checked on a daily basis. Additionally, I follow a strict

routine to retain consistency in nutrients that the plants receive. Furthermore, deep research

was done on each plant to assess their optimal environment for assurance of plant growth.
In the first week, there was not much change in the plants. I observed that the garlic and onion

had started to grow its roots. The other seedlings were still preparing to grow their buds. In the

following week, substantial progress was seen in each plant. It was planned that these plants

will be transferred to a much larger container as it grows larger. After leaves started growing,

they were then put to a larger landmass for better growth.

For further examination of the plants, progress will still be recorded after the time period

allotted. For assessment of the experience, the home gardening has provided a sense of

relaxation whilst watering and caring for the plant each day. In addition, It has provided me with

a healthy body clock which I am happy with.
