This guide is a quick reference for the Flexi Cabinet Outdoor (FCOB) installation.

The Flexi Cabinet Outdoor (FCOB) can be installed vertically (on walls, poles and floors) and
horizontally (on floors).

The cabinet is heavy. Additional personnel or lifting equipment might be needed
when the cabinets are moved, unpacked, or lined up. In addition, follow any local
regulations applicable to the installation.

NOTICE:
Incorrect cables and seals do not provide secured weather protection. In outdoor
installations, including the outdoor cabinet, use only tested IP65 class outdoor cables
with seals provided by Nokia. This is also recommended for indoor installations.

Electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage the modules. Wear an ESD wrist strap or
use a corresponding method when handling the modules.

Installing and commissioning of BTS products must be performed by an expert

familiar with electronic devices, to avoid damage caused by improper handling.

NOTE: When installing and maintaining modules inside of the FCOB make sure that there is a minimum front
clearance of 600 mm (23.62 in.) for door openings.
NOTE: Make sure that there is a minimum bottom clearance of 160 mm (6.30 in.) for cable routing for vertical and
horizontal installation.
NOTE: Make sure that there is a minimum side clearance of 200 mm (7.87 in.) for better cabinet’s performance.

3 Lifting FCOB
NOTICE: The cabinet is heavy. Additional personnel or lifting equipement might be needed when the cabinet is
moved, unpacked, or lined up. In addition, follow any local regulations applicable to the installation.

1. Attach the lifting parts to the attachment points.

4 2. Screw the lifting parts to the cabinet with ten M5.
3. Secure the carne to the cabinet.
4. Carefully lift the cabinet to the desired installation position.

NOTICE: Make sure that the distance between crane lifting

point and the cabinet’s lifting parts is minimum 300 mm (11.81 in.) to
avoid bending the equipement.

The cabinet is lifted according to the instructions.
The cabinet is secured in position.

4 Installing FCOB onto a wall

NOTE: FCOB can be installed from either side of the cabinet onto a wall. Only vertical installations on walls are
possible for FCOB.
NOTE: Make sure that the designated wall is flat and strong enough to bear the cabinet weight in any condition.
NOTE: Install lifting parts before installing the cabinet onto a wall. See chapter Lifting the cabinet.

1. Mark the mounting hole locations on the wall and drill four 18 mm (0.7 in.) diameter holes for the M12 expansion bolts.
2. Insert the M12 expansion bolts into holes in the wall.

NOTE: When applying the bolts, ensure the fixing methods correspond to the wall's properties.

3. Apply the upper mounting bracket to the wall.

4. Fix the upper mounting bracket to a wall with two M12 expansion bolts’s washers, spring washers and nuts.

5. Loosley fix the lower mounting bracket to the cabinet with three M5 screws.
6. Attach two connecting studs into the cabinet.

7. Attach the cabinet onto the wall using the lifting parts and two connecting studs.
8. Tighten the upper mounting bracket to the lifting part with three M5 screws.

9. Tighten the lower mounting bracket to the wall using two washers, spring washers and nuts dedicated to M12 expansion bolts.
10. Tighten the lower mounting bracket screws to the cabinet.
Check list
The FCOB screws are tighten to 4.3 Nm (3.17 ft- lb.).
The FCOB mounting brackets are secured to the wall.

5 Installing FCOB onto a pole

NOTE: FCOB can be installed onto a pole using FPKA.
NOTE: Install lifting the parts before installing the cabinet on a pole. See chapter Lifting the cabinet.

1. Install the FPKA.

NOTE: Make sure that the distance between the upper and lower FPKA kits is 482.5 mm (19.0 in.).
NOTE: Remove all M8 bolts from the FPKA kits before installing the FCOB.
2. Install the upper mounting bracket onto the FPKA with two M8 bolts.
3. Loosley fix two M8 bolts to the FPKA lower kit.

NOTE: Leave 5 mm (0.2 in.) distance between the screw head and the FPKA kit.

4. Install the lower mounting bracket onto the bottom of the cabinet and loosely fix the three M5 screws.
5. Insert two connecting studs into the cabinet’s wall.

6. Hang the cabinet off the upper mounting bracket and

attach it with the connecting studs.
7. Tighten the upper mounting bracket to the lifting part
with five M5 screws.
8. Tighten the FPKA lower mounting kit M8 bolts to the
FCOB lower mounting bracket.
9. Secure the lower mounting bracket to the cabinet with
three M5 screws.

The FPKA kits are properly installed on a pole.
The FPKA M8 bolts are tighten to 20 Nm (14.75 ft-lb.)

8 Stacking FCOBs
NOTE: Only horizontal installations are possible for stacked FCOBs. A maximum of two FCOBs can be stacked. Before
stacking FCOBs, install the lower cabinet horizontally on a floor. See chapter Installing horizontally on a floor.

9 Installing 3U casing on top of FCOB

NOTE: The 3U casing can be installed on top of the FCOB, but only when the FCOB is installed in the horizontal
position. See chapter Installing horizontally on a floor.
NOTE: A maximum of three 3U casings can be installed in Earthquake Zone 4 areas and a maximum of five 3U
casings can be installed in Earthquake Zone 2 areas.

10 Installing FCOB on 3U casing

NOTE: The FCOB can be installed on top of the 3U casing, but only when the FCOB is installed in the horizontal
position. See chapter Installing horizontally on a floor.

NOTE: A maximum of three 3U casings can be installed

1 under FCOB in Earthquake Zone 2 areas.

NOTICE: Do not install FCOB on the 3U casing in

1. Remove the four M5 screws and pull out the dummy casing.
2. Loosen the small plate middle M4 screw and remove the side M4 screw.
3. Rotate the small plate by 90 degrees.
4. Fix the small plate side M4 screw and tighten the middle M4 screw.
5. Install the FYGE into the dummy casing with three M5x35 screws.
6. Reinsert and reinstall the dummy casing with FYGE into the FCOB using four M5 screws.
7. Connect the power cables between the PDU and the FYGE.
Check list
The small plate position is changed.
The FYGE is secured to the dummy casing.
The dummy casing screws are tighten to 4.3 Nm (3.17 ft- lb.).

1. Insert the lower guide plate into the cabinet’s slots.

2. Insert the upper guide plate into the cabient’s slots.
3. Insert the FSIH into the cabinet using the guide plates.
NOTE: Note the FSIH terminal block position.

4. Fix the FSIH into the cabinet using four M5 screws.

The FSIH is inserted inside of the cabinet using the left slots.
The FSIH is secured to the cabinet.
The screws are tighten to 4.3 Nm (3.17 ft- lb.).

13 Cabling FSIH inside of FCOB

NOTE: Check if cable entry sealing block is installed correctly.
NOTICE: Electrostatic discharge (ESD)
damage electrical equipment. Wear an ESD
wrist strap when cabling.

NOTE: Select the fan control mode

according to cabinet’s thermal load and
noise requirements:
- 1, for 1500 W thermal load with low noise
- 2, for 1000 W thermal load with low noise
- 3, for 700 W thermal load with low noise
- 0, for 1500 W thermal load with high

1. Cut off the grounding and power cables IP boot using scissors.
NOTE: Use a single cut to ensure a clean cut surface.

2. Route the grounding cable and the power cables through the
cable holes.
3. Prepare the power cables.
NOTE: It is recommended to strip 18 mm of the power
cable.

4. Insert the grounding cable into the OT terminal.

NOTE: FCOB supports M5 OT, dual M5 OT and M8 OT

grounding terminals.

5. Fix the grounding cable with OT terminal to the grounding
5 point.
6. Connect the power cables to the PDU and FSIH.

NOTE: Make sure that the cable wire end is not loosely
inserted into the connector port. If necessary, repeat
stripping the cable.

WARNING! Risk of short circuit! Make sure that all the

cable wires are connected to the correct ports.

7. Secure the grounding cable and the power cables with cable
ties to the cabinet’s wall.

8. Prepare the sealing block for cable routing.

NOTE: If possible, leave the area 3 unused to
make the free space in front of dummy casing
for maintenance purposes.
NOTE: First, prepare the sealing block for
cables with a diameter of 6-7 mm.

a. Loosen the sealing block screw.

b. Remove the plastic plug.
c. Remove the sealing block.
d. Route the cables through the sealing block and
clamp the cables into the cable holes.
NOTE: For vertical installations insert cables
from left to right side of the cabinet.

8 NOTE: For horizontal installations insert cables

from bottom to up of the cabinet.
E. Reinsert the sealing block.
f. Tighten the sealing block screw.

9. Connect optical cables to the FSIH.

NOTE: Only optical cables that are
insulated using the outdoor cable
jacket can be routed through the
sealing block holes. A minimum of 200
mm (7.87 in.) of outdoor cable jacket
is required for optical cables inside of
the FCOB.

NOTE: Insert cables one by one

through the cable entry holes.

10. Connect the EAC cable to the FSIH.

11. Connect the external alarm signal cables

to the cabinet.
11 a. Insert the slot screwdriver blade
into the contact window.
b. Open the contact window and
insert the cable wire.
c. Remove the screwdriver from the
contact window.
d. Connect the external alarm signal
b cables to terminal pins marked from 1
to 16.

NOTE: Make sure that the external

alarm signal cable diameter is 5 - 6
mm (0.20 - 0.27 in.). If cable diameter

IP sealings are attached.
Empty holes sealing blocks are used.
Grounding cable is connected.
Power cables are connected.
Optical cables are connected.
Sync cables and EAC cable are connected.
Cables are routed with the correct bending radius.
A minimum of 200 mm (7.87 in.) of outdoor jacket is left for optical cables inside of the cabinet.
Door lock tongue does not interfere with cables.
Cabinet is secured.
Cabinet door is closed.
