Lab 1 - Orthographic Plans
PRODUCED BY AN AUTODESK STUDENT VERSION
The objective of this lab was to learn how to read and interpret Marika-Alderton House by Glenn Murcutt
orthographic elevation drawings. We were also taught how to create
an elevation by using orthographic projections and applying a
hierarchy of line weights to improve clarity using AutoCAD. As a final
step, color, tone, and shadows were added using Adobe Illustrator to
depict spatial depth and represent materiality.
The objective of this assignment was to add entourage, texture, and Marika-Alderton House by Glenn Murcutt
backgrounds to the elevation from our second lab. These techniques
were applied using a combination of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe
Photoshop, making the render more realistic.

using a variety of software. We learned how to apply different photo-collage
techniques and brushes and how to convey materiality, scale and mood. These
render-ings were done using a combination of Rhino and V-Ray while the post-
rendering and entourage was added using both Adobe Illustrator and Adobe
Photoshop.
