VII. ASSESSMENT
Based on the statement gathered, the client is seeking for a scholarship for him
to be able to have a support and able to continue his studies in the future. The
client wanted to pursue his study because his parents is hoping that through him,
when he can finished his education he can help his parents especially to his
siblings in the future. The client also added that if he stop and continue to be a
tricycle driver he cannot fully support his families need yet he cannot even
support his two siblings on their studies instead.

Franklin is smart and motivated and his parents really hoping that Franklin could
help them in raising their family if he could pursue his education and it is a big
loss to them if he could stop in going to school. So scholarship can be a great
help in continuing his studies and it could give the family a big courage and great
hope for Franklin to reach his goals. He is hoping that some government agency
will respond to his need.

In Franklin case, the theory that could explain his situation is the theory of Carl
Rogers in the concept of actualizing tendency. The client wanted to survive in his
situation by striving and finding ways to sustain their daily needs and finding
ways on how to cope his problem encountered, the client tends to be more
independent and more socially responsible for the instance that he wanted to
help his family and become more responsible in his two siblings needs in terms
of their education.
If the problem of the client won’t be addressed or even these needs are
not achieved, it leads to an increase in displeasure as an individual. In return,
when client feel this increase of displeasure, the motivation to decrease these
discrepancies increases and it may affect her social functioning as an individual.
