Project Title
DELIVERING BASIC COMPUTER SKILL TRAINING FOR EVERYONE
Organization Profile
The present Addis College is started by giving vocational training. Technical and Vocational
Education and Training (TVET) serves multiple purposes. The key purpose is preparation of
youth for work. This takes the form of learning and developing work related to skills and
mastery of underlying knowledge and scientific principles. The long history of technical and
vocational education in Ethiopia has reached its current stage since its inception in the
1930s. The Founder and Owner of Addis College, Takele Teferi Mangudayu, has realized the
importance of vocational education from the beginning.
VISION
Addis College aspires to be one of the leading private colleges in east Africa in the fields of
Engineering, Technology and Business in 2030.
Our mission is to provide quality education and prepare our students to strive and excel in a
rapidly changing society.
The mission of Addis College is to produce modern, efficient, and competitive professionals
and entrepreneurs  with  diversified  outlook  and  research  capabilities  to  constructively
contribute  to the  ever-growing  needs and aspirations of society in the areas of Engineering,
Technology and Business. 
To effectively realize the mission, The Addis College shall among others, carry out the
following activities:

constantly work hard to deliver better in every aspect;
 Providing  trainees  with  a  career  foundation  that  equips  them  to  be  high
experts/professionals and/or entrepreneurs;

programs;
 Providing  education  and  training  in  collaboration  with  internal  and  external stakeholders;
 Promoting research and scholarly activities to enhance its trainees’ competitiveness in their
technological and business careers; and;
 Providing the required human, material and functional resources for quality education and
training and continuously to be a competent institution in the country.

Having more than 15 years of experience in providing training on the field of ICT the college
has a lot of witness for its quality education our students and trainees are among them.

Executive Summary
A range of assistive technology and material support is required to be provided to trainees
for their social, educational and economic mainstreaming. Our college is working rigorously
to cater to the educational, mobility of persons
Problem statement
It is commonly understood that most of the societies in our country may not have the basic
skills to operate a computer.
In this competitive world especially now a day’s using emerging technology such as
computer is becoming mandatory to keep business continuity as well as to stay informed
and be capable of working skillfully in industries as a professional even for personal life’s.
Persons who do not have basic computer literacy face a lot of problems in life and they have
to depend on others for satisfying their needs and organizations requirement.
In today’s technology driven world, the main problems that most persons usually face are the
following:
 They have limited knowledge of assistive technology solutions that are available;
 Many have never heard of emerging technological devices like 5G, AR;
 Most of them don’t even know how to use computers, and study in online schools and
colleges due to lack of awareness;
 Many persons cannot even afford to purchase a computer;
 Even if they can afford, they lack training and guidance.

The present day, person no longer leads his/her life only on sympathetic donations received
in cash or in kind. He/she wants to join the mainstream of the society and aspires to stand
on his/her own feet with some training assistance in all possible ways. He/she has raised
him/herself above different program level and achieved new attitudes in various fields of
commerce and industry. One of the many fields where our trained trainees have proven
their skills is handling computers.

Proposed Solution

Addis College will organize and conduct Basic computer trainings for your staffs during the
period of 6 Months in two phases. The trainings will be conducted in a batch of 6
participants as your request. The length of each training will be of 3 months and the
trainings will be organized and conducted in Addis College Main campus. Each participant
will be provided a desktop computer with internet during the training course. The
participants or trainees who attend the training will be examined by our trainer’s and Lab
Assistants on their competency status in skill, knowledge, and attitude at Addis college for the
Certification.

During this training we can handle between 15-20 trainees at the same time. It will gives us
confidence that we can conduct an effective training a time-saving and money-saving
opportunity to and make them technically skilled. Last but not the least to uplift their
computer skills by increasing their technical literacy.

The main objective of the training program will be to make the customers satisfied with our
training and make them literate to computer technology and help them gain required skills
to work on a computer on their own.
After the completion of the short term courses of the training each participant will be
provided with a certification.

Key Activities

The Key activities under this project are as follows:


 Registering trainees
 Conducting a training
 Assessing trainees and facilitating the training
 Scoring results
 Certifying trainees
 Reporting results for registrar
 Total number of trainings planned during the project period of 6 months;
 Total length of each training course – varies on the nature of the course;
 Total length of each training phase-3 months;
 Batch size during each training phase – 6 participants;
 Total number of persons trained within 6 months– 12;
 Geographical locations where the trainings will be conducted – Addis Ababa
Apart from the above mentioned trainings and participants, The College will also conduct
additional trainings on using social Medias and online marketing as well.
Outcomes of the Project
The main objective of this project is to make the trainees to be able to understand and
compute the basic tasks required on operating a computer and use internet effectively. So,
at the end of these training trainees should achieve the following objectives.

 Connect different peripheral devices

 Operate personal computer

 Access and customize window environments

 Organize and Manage files and folders based on requirement

 Operate Microsoft office packages (operate word processing, operate spreadsheet


application, Operate database application)

 Create free email accounts to send and receive messages by using internet

The above details will be categorized in 5 courses:

1. Operate personal computer,

2. Connect hardware peripheral devices,

3. Access and use internet,

4. operate word processing and,

5. operate spreadsheet application

The Basic computer courses of skill training for those trainees’s in their work area will
surely solve their problems to a great extent. Gradual Increase in the number of courses on
the training will enable our College to prepare a large number of educated persons to be
computer literate, which will.
 Help persons to become aware of the technology world at an early stage;
 Increase the level of confidence and independence through the use of computers the
trainees will be able to do many tasks on their own, such as start and shut down their
computer,
 Navigate and Manipulate desktop environment, organize basic directory/ folder
structure and files for user and/or organization requirements
 completing their own assignments, receive and send emails through internet and
preparing for exams, payment of online bills, etc.;
 Gain expected skills at an appropriate level;
 Connect to online libraries such as PublicLiterature.org, Authorama Page By Page
Books, Perseus Digital Library free of cost;
 Prepare for competitive tasks;
 Access and use internet
 Stay in touch with their staffs through social media through computers;
 Learn and remain informed about new technologies from the world;
The outcomes of the project will be measured through a feedback format, which Addis
College has already developed for the training participants. You can make a random
supervision and observation or do a regular follow-up with each individual who has been
attending the training or completed the 3 months training course for their feedbacks and
progress after the training through phone calls, personal contacts and case studies.
In addition, the following techniques will be used for the assessment
1. Weekly class presentations by 2 participants each from every batch on the
topic/content covered in order to assess their level of understanding at every stage
and enhance their confidence;
2. Monthly tests of participants to assess the effectiveness of the training program on a
regular basis;

3. Documenting detailed case studies of 2 participants after 3 months of completion of
their training in order to evaluate the long-term impact of the intervention on their
skills, productivity, motivation to work, education, etc.
The training coordinator in the college will continue to establish contacts with the training
participants for their feedback as a follow-up.
The outcome of the project will be measured through follow-up of each individual’s
progress for three months through phone calls, email communication and help line. Project
reports and case studies will be prepared simultaneously.
