2.1 Important Notices
GM8804C-4 packing controller uses AC90V-260V 50Hz/60Hz±2% power supply
with grounding to guarantee the safety of the controller and other equipments connected.
The cables connecting GM8804C-4 to load cells should not bind with other cables, especially
power supply cables, and must use shielded cables, because the signals from the load cells is low
voltage analog signals.
Note: Please DON’T connect the Ground Wire of the controller directly to the
GND of other equipments.
To install the GM8804C-4 into a control box, please refer to the last chapter of this manual
first, and make appropriate installation holes according to the position of screw holes on the

Serial Port2
This port is a RS-2 32/RS -485 selective port. This is realized by switching the dipswitch
on the SIO board.
Through this port, GM8804C-4 sends out data of the current working status or
accumulation result. It’s can also be used to communicate with upper control equipment or a
second display such as our product GM8891 series display.
There are two working modes for this serial port:
Command mode: GM8804C-4 communicates with the command from Host Computer

6. Operating Modes
6.1 Working Operation Modes
When the GM8804C-4 packing controller is powered on, all displays and indicators lights
and flash for 3 times. After that, the model name comes to the main display and the software
version number goes to the sub-display as shown in the diagram below. 3 seconds later, the
controller enters the STOP status.
STOP Sta tus: Under this status, the operation such as system calibration, parameter
setting, recipe management and simple weighing can be carried out.
Operation Status: When external effective operation signal comes in, the controller
enters this status. Under this status, the controller will carry out normal batching packing job
according to the recipe settings. Main display shows material weight reduced from measuring
hopper (means material weight in bag). As indicator take all of weight in measuring hopper as tare,
so main display will show negative net weight in decrement weighing. The sub-display shows
recipe number in operate status. The indicator display as the following diagram:

feeding output effectively; if “Clearing Material” signal input effectively again, these outputs will
be ineffective.
6.4 Manually Set to Zero
Under the stop status, press or input effective signal of “Set to Zero” externally, the
gross weight is set to zero. (This must be under stable status and the gross weight is within the
range of reset, otherwise, the error message ERROR3 or ERROR2 will appear instead of
resetting.)
6.5 Setting the Batch Numbers
Press under stop status, the main display shows the batch number of 4 digits, and the
sub-display shows Bat as the following diagram.
Press and then set the batch number through 0~9 keys. Confirm this setting with pressing
after completion. Press to return stop status.
During automatic operation, when the set batch number is completed, the controller will give
alarm with ERROR1 and then pause for operator to handle. When the number of batch is
completed and the alarm output is effective, press or enable the input signal “Alarm Reset”
to clear the alarm and let the controller and return stop status. If the batch number is set to 0,no
alarm and pause.
6.6 Date and Time Reading and setting
Press or under stop conditions to read the current time or date on the main
display. The sub-display is now displaying CL for time or dA for date. In the following example,
the time is read as:16:32:35 (hr:mn:sc),
Press and use 0~9 to set a new date or time followed by to confirm. Press
to return stop status.
6.7 Reading and Resetting Accumulation Totals
Press under stop or operation status, the SUM lights and the accumulation totals come

to the display in the range up to 8 digits. If this display exceeds 6 digits, the most significant digits
will go to the sub-display. T he following example shows the value of 32100.020k g.
To read the times of this accumulation, press again, and this number goes to the main
display.
Under stop status, if is pressed when reading the accumulation totals, the main display
flashes. At this time, press to clear this totals or/and press any other key to return reading
status. Press under reading status to return stop status. Please note that the accumulation
totals can not be cleared under operation status.
6.8 Printing Accumulation Totals
In case of an external serial printer is connected through serial port 1 (Extension board
SIO must have been installed.),press to print the current accumulation totals. Now, the
main display shows Print. The controller returns stop status after printing completes.

ON/OFF data output testing: The 10 digit keys represent OUT1~OUT10, represents
OUT11 and represents OUT12 respectively. Press any of those keys, the output represented
by that key becomes effective, and the second press of that key makes it ineffective. When an
output is effective, the corresponding digit on the display lights. At this moment, as the indicators
of the ON/OFF data, the upper 2 rows of status indicators on the left of the sub-display will show
if the corresponding output is ON or OFF. (Lighting up means ON.)

feeding output signal is disabled. System now enters moderate feeding process and starts timer t2.
In t2 time, to avoid overshooting, the controller will not verify the weight inside the hopper, but
keep moderate feeding and slow feeding signal effective. When t2 expires, the controller
real-timely checks the weight inside the hopper, and disables the moderate feeding output to make
the system enter the slow feeding process when the material weight inside the hopper is greater or
equal to the target value minus the leading value of moderate feeding. The t2 is activated again at
this time. The controller will not verify the material weight inside the hopper to avoid
overshooting. When t2 expires, the controller real-timely checks the weight inside the hopper.
When material weight is greater or equals to the target value minus leading value of slow feeding,
the controller disables the slow feeding output, and the feeding process ends. Fixed value output is
enabled.
If recipe parameter no. F5 bag-patting switch is ON, the indicator will start timer t7 when
discharging material, then output bag-patting effective signal when t7 expires and start timer t8,
when t8 expires, then close bag-patting signal.
If over/under tolerance switch is ON, the indicator will start timer t3. When t3 expires, then
start timer t4 and proceed the over tolerance adjustment. If over/under tolerance occurs, the over
tolerance output is enabled. If over/under tolerance adjustment switch is OFF, then don’t start the
timer t3 timer and start timer t4 directly. After timer t4 expires, the indicator control to release
bag( If parameter no. 7 automatical releasing bag switch is OFF, then indicator will not release bag
until releasing). When bag-patting and bag-releasing are completed, the controller proceed reduce
tare and return to gross weight status. GROSS instruction light ON and NET instruction light off.
In discharging material, if material weight inside measuring hopper is less than lower level
limited value, not start feeding material, as feeding material only start before discharging.
Under the operation process, if stop input is effective, the indicator returns to stop status, and
reduce tare and returns to gross weight status.
