3 Device overview

3 Device overview
▪ The telecommunication device W-FM COM enables remote access via the internet to
process data and parameters of a burner equipped with W-FM 50, W-FM 54, W-FM
100 or W-FM 200 combustion manager.
▪ It interrogates values from the W-FM as Modbus-Master. The Modbus interface on the
W-FM is therefore occupied and cannot be used by PLC or DDC.
▪ The values are displayed by integral web server and can be called up from a PC
using a Browser.
▪ Physical interface Modbus: 9 pole Sub-D socket (male) via RS232 or RS485.
▪ Physical interface LAN: Ethernet 10/100BaseTX.
▪ Integrated GSM/GPRS QB Modem with SMA-F socket.
▪ One digital input and one digital output are integrated in the W-FM COM, both can be
configured.

Input/output add-on module W-FM COM M-7002

▪ With an optional add-on module, an additional 4 analogue inputs, 5 digital inputs and
4 digital outputs can be displayed on a webpage of the W-FM COM.
▪ If the add-on module is used, the Modbus connection must always be made via
RS485. For each burner connected, an RS converter is required for each W-FM.
▪ To use these functions, the W-FM COM must have at least website version 2.0.1.

8.2.1 Determining the IP address

If the IP address of the W-FM COM was changed to an unknown value (e.g. by
automatic assignment of a router), it can be identified with a PC tool, such as “Network
Scanner“ (available free of charge from a number of providers) or eBuddy (available free
of charge from www.ewon.biz).
Network Scanner shows the MAC address of each device found. The identification of the
IP address is possible by comparing this with the MAC address of the W-FM COM (this
can be found on the label below the serial number, see Ch. 5.1.7).
eBuddy only displays the W-FM COM found.
The following private IP address ranges are defined:
▪ 10.0.0.0 to 10.255.255.255
▪ 172.16.0.0 to 172.31.255.255
▪ 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255
