1. Imagine you are the owner of an e-commerce website. What are some of
the signs that your site has been hacked? Discuss the major types of
attacks you could expect to experience and the resulting damage to your
site. Prepare a summary presentation.
There are various indicators that my e-commerce website has been hacked that I
may be able to discover. There are two symptoms:
 Strange material appearing on my website or broken coding for my pages.
The performance of the website may deteriorate, resulting in a long loading
time. Unusual user accounts, strange plugins, blacklisting, and even
questionable website behavior may appear to me.
 Spam, phishing attempts, bots, malware, and distributed denial of service
assaults are the most common forms of attacks that an owner should expect
to see (DDoS). Spam can arrive in the form of blogger comments, which can
open up a link to your e-commerce website, overloading the system and
causing it to go offline.
 Phishing attacks might come in the form of emails warning of danger and
seeking immediate action from the owner or workers. Hackers may be able
to get login and personal information as a result of this type of attack. Bots
might also pose a threat to an e-commerce site. They may keep items in
online shopping carts or adjust prices on your website to prevent sales from
being made.
 Malware adds to the problem by attempting to gain access to your system
through a backdoor and steal information about you and your customers. The
hackers can then use the stolen data to their advantage.
 DDoS occurs when hackers overwhelm a website's server, causing it to go
offline. These attacks might cause website difficulties as well as a lack of
trust among your consumers.

2. Find three certification authorities and compare the features of each

company’s digital certificates. Provide a brief description of each
company as well, including several clients. Prepare a brief presentation
of your findings.

A digital certificate is used to link the public key of an entity to specified density-
related features. A certification authority, often known as a CA, is a reputable third-
party entity that issues digital certificates, which are then used to establish digital
signatures and public-private key pairs. Entrust has been offering digital
information security solutions to over 5,000 enterprises in over 85 countries for
over two decades (Entrust, Inc.). It's a certificate for software authentication.
Digicert issues certifications to approximately 80,000 customers in 180 countries,
representing a wide range of industries and businesses (Digicert.com). Nasa,
Facebook, Wikipedia, Paypal, and BMW are among them.
Digipass is a certificate created by Vasco, an authentication business that uses its
technology to provide digital certificates for E-gaming, E-Commerce, government
sites, health sites, and other online application security solutions (Vasco.com).

3. Surf the Web for at least 15 minutes. Visit at least two different e-
commerce sites. Make a list describing all the different marketing
communication tools you see being used in detail. Which do you believe
is the most effective and why?
Facebook and Amazon were the two websites I chose to browse. Marketing
communication tools come in a variety of shapes and sizes.
 Media Advertising: In order to communicate and transmit their marketing
message to their customers, both Amazon and Facebook rely heavily on
media advertising. Amazon TV commercials, for example, feature a video
clip of former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson promoting Amazon Fire TV, a
promotion arrangement that is said to have cost Amazon GBP 160 million.
 Seasonal sales promotions: During the holidays, Amazon advertises seasonal
sales promotions on its website, through newspapers, magazines, emails, and
flyers.
 Coupons: Amazon Prime members have access to unique coupons from their
favorite brands.
 Other sale promotions include product demos, contests, displays, and free
samples; buy one, get one free; and buy one, get one free.
 Companies use their Facebook pages to promote their products. As an
example. Share anything on social media, including photographs, links, and

videos, as long as it is related to the business and appears to be something

that target audiences would appreciate.
Media advertising, in my opinion, is one of the most powerful marketing
communication techniques, and both Facebook and Amazon are using it.
Because, nowadays, no one is interested in receiving flyers in the mail or
reading newspapers. Every day, people are using social media and purchasing
online. The number of people who own a smartphone is growing every day.
There is no doubt that video and photographs on the internet are capturing the
attention of buyers. Furthermore, leveraging popular influencers to acquire
customers is getting increasingly common.

4. Search for a product of your choice on at least three search engines.

Examine the results page carefully. Can you discern which results, if
any, are a result of a paid placement? If so, how did you determine this?
What other marketing communications related to your search appear on
the page?
Search engines, display ad marketing, viral marketing, and affiliate marketing
are among more advertising tools. One of the most common tools utilized by
marketers is a search engine. Search engines are employed in product branding
since they have a lot of support for direct sales. Sponsored links, also known as
keyword paid inclusion, keyword advertising, and contextual advertising, are
examples of search engine advertising. The search engine has a distinct method
of operation. The panda hummingbird and the knowledge graph are examples of
Google's algorithm. When I used the various search engines to look for a
specific product, the bulk of the engines returned the same site at the top of the
results. This shows that the placement was compensated. During the searches,
there was evidence of the use of additional advertising tools, such as display ad
marketing.
