3. Did you follow some ways in keeping and storing them? Yes or No. Let us know

What Is It
Housekeeping is not merely cleanliness. It is also keeping work areas neat and
orderly by storing materials, checking the PPE, and keeping records, maintaining halls
and floors free of slip and trip hazards, and removing of waste materials. Effective
housekeeping ease the flow of materials and improve productivity because tools and
materials are easy to find.

Importance of Storing Materials Properly
Storing of materials properly reduce the risk of accidents because they are
organized. Returning tools promptly after use also reduces the chance of being
misplaced or lost. Making sure that tools are properly stored, cleaned and well
maintained, saves time and money and makes your job easy to do/ accomplish.
Therefore, workers should regularly inspect, clean and repair all tools and
take any damaged or worn-out tools to avoid accident and danger.
2. Clean out dirt and debris from tools. Set up racks, mount racks along the
wall of your garage or storage area to hang garden tools, cords and other
equipment.
3. Create and designate a library area or bin within the storage space for user
manuals and warranty sheets, and store booklets alphabetically and in a
dry area as reference in operating the equipment and others.
1. Look for problems inside each storage area on a regular basis. Be sure
there are no apparent fumes.
2. Use a separate broom and dustpan for chemical cleanup. Be sure to lock
these tools away when you are not using them.

2 Protective Equipment
What’s New
Directions: Think of some farm PPE’s and tell what part of the body the equipment
protect. Follow the table below. Write your answers on the activity notebook.
What Is It
1. Boots or Wellies: These will provide an extra layer of protection against falling
tools/ equipment or trampling by livestock.
3. Hard Hats / Native Hats: These will offer protection from the sun, falling objects
and prevent head injuries caused by slips, trips, and falls from a height.
6. Respirator: It is an apparatus worn over the mouth and nose or the entire face to
prevent the inhalation of dust, smoke, or other chemicals like pesticides during
spraying.
7. Safety Glasses: These are shields of the worker's eyes to prevent eye damage.
They block dirt, dust, debris, chemicals, or liquids from entering the eyes.
Glasses have lenses that provide visibility.
The storage area for PPE should be clean, tidy, and organized. Stacking things on
top of each other should be avoided. Instead, utilize organizational tools like wall hooks
and shelves. By doing so, good housekeeping is being implemented.

What Is It
The term “record keeping” refers to the process of making orderly and disciplined
the storing or keeping of business records. Record keeping is one of the most important
responsibilities of a farm owner. The success of the business depends on creating and
maintaining an effective record system, whether your business is sole proprietorship,
partnership, or corporation.
1. It keeps update on stocks, cash flows and manage each aspect of the farm
properly.
2. It helps in planning and budgeting.
3. It is helpful when a farmer needs to access financial aids from banks or other
financial institutions.
4. It facilitates good housekeeping practice in such a way that inventories of
materials used, tools/equipment will be updated and recorded.
There are types of records that can be used by farmers to keep track on the flow
of his enterprise.
Types of Records
1. Farm Cash Records - are used to keep a record of all sales made from farm
produce.
2. Daily Farm Records - are records of important events and activities that take place in
the farm every day. These records serve for future planning of the farm activities.
Example of a daily farm record is shown below.
