PROGRAM TITLE : ADOPT-A- READING-CHILD PROGRAM

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES :
This project aims to answer and achieve the following goals:
 to eliminate or decrease percentage in frustration level among Grade 7
students;
 to enhance struggling readers’ reading comprehension skills
 to design a specific reading intervention suited for students who need one-
on-one reading remediation during this time of pandemic.

III. BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

As stated in DepEd Order no. 12, s. 2015, in line with one of the President’s
Ten Point Basic Education Agenda, states that “every child should be a reader by
Grade 1. Clearly, DepEd is strengthening its reading program through the
implementation of the Early Language Literacy and Numeracy Program (ELLN)
which is an enhanced reading program of Early Child A Reader Program (ECARP)
during the Basic Education Curriculum (BEC) which advocates the development of
reading comprehension starting from Grades I to VI.
In this pandemic time, when schools faces several challenges in delivering
learning to the students, conducting remediation to students who are struggling in
reading is not as easy before. Teachers have to innovate and to do extra mile to
continue the remediation needed to the needy one.
As part of its service, the teachers of Dakung Patag National High School
continues its program, “ Adopt-A-Reading-Child” which enables the teachers to call
the attentions of the students who need remediation and build rapport and constant
communication to parents as partners of educating their children.
Teachers in different levels are assigned to do remediation and interventions
of reading to their students. With the consent of their parents, the teachers do
visitations and/or called the students to school for one-on-one reading remediation
following the IATF protocols.
