Draw and interpret free-body force diagrams to represent forces.

Understand the concept of center of gravity of an extended body.
Determine the net force apply to an object.

Observations:
An apple sits at rest on a bench, in equilibrium. It
shows the forces acting on the apple is the weight
of the apple that is, the downward gravitational
force exerted by the earth on the apple. Similarly,
is the upward force exerted by the bench on the
Apple, it is an example of a normal force between
the two object the apple and the bench.

Normal Forces is the force that supporting the

weight of an object example of a normal force is
in the first picture the normal force preventing
the apple from sinking through the bench. When
two surfaces are in contact, they apply normal
force on each other. If there is no contact
between surfaces, there is no normal force.

A force is a push or a pull of an object. It affects

the motion of objects and systems. In the
situation presented in the labster, we have two
forces, the force from the motors which is 30N
and force of gravity which is 40N.The force of the
motors is called the lifting force while the force
from the mass and acceleration of gravity is the
force of gravity. The lifting force is a contact force
that requires contact between objects while the
gravity force does not need any contact for it to
exist. The reason why Dr. One is having difficulty
in floating is because there is a net force of 10N
pulling her downwards. A net force is the sum of
all forces acting on an object. There are forces
acting on an object in which if it is added
altogether, results as a net force. Which in this
case it is the lifting force that comes from the
motors and gravity force are not equal. There is
30N lifting force and 40N gravity force which

makes the gravity force stronger than the lifting
force resulting of gravity pulling Dr. One
downwards.

A ball is found at a steeply inclined wedge. As the

ball would decline because of gravity, an upward
force of equal magnitude on the ball must be
acted upon on the wedge in order to prevent the
ball from moving downwards. The force that
must be acted in the given situation is what you
call a contact force, a force that would prevent
the ball from moving down the steeply inclined
wedge. There are two distinct types of forces that
are identified in the situations. The first force that
is identified is the normal force. This force is
called a normal force providing that the force is
directed perpendicular to the wedge surface. The
second type of force is identified as the frictional
force. In the given example, a frictional force is
identified providing that the force is directed
parallel to the wedge surface. Adding to that, the
frictional force is the force that contests any
tendency of the ball that would slide down the
steeply inclined wedge.
Buoyancy is the force that keeps the object from
floating. The weight of object, displaced in the
fluid, is equal to the buoyant force. The volume of
fluid displaced is proportional to the buoyant
force in the illustration. Moreover, the buoyant
force is the one that balances the force of gravity
being that it keeps the object from floating.
However, buoyancy is not exemplified when the
objects, displaced in the fluid, sink.

The illustration shows a spring balance that is

being used to measure the push or pull force that
we apply to the ball. Forces are applied when the
spring stretches by an amount dependent on the
push or pull force that is being applied to the
ends of the spring. Moreover, tension is identified
providing that the magnitude of the force of a
segment of a string exerts an adjacent segment.
Consequently, the magnitude of the force that is
exerted on the object is directly proportional if
the string is pulled by an object.

Conclusion:

Free body diagrams are significant in identifying the relativity of all the magnitude and
direction of forces that are acted upon an object in a given situation. This diagram showcases
a chosen body by itself that is “free” from its surroundings with vectors that are drawn to
illustrate the magnitudes and directions of all the forces that are acted upon to the body that
has different bodies which also have interactions with. To more specific, the action-reaction
shall never be paired with the same free-body diagram for the reason that both are never in
a state of act on the same body. In addition, body forces are never included since these
cannot affect the body’s motion. Moreover, the gravitational force exerted on the earth
would be the weight of the body. The vector quantity would be weight. Due to the gravity at
a specific location, the magnitude of the weight of the body would be equal to the product of
the mass and the magnitude of the acceleration. Adding to that, the mass would be
independent of the location while the weight of the body would be dependent on the
location. With that, the acceleration of a body, given the action of a certain set of forces, is
directly proportional to the sum of the vector forces (net force). The net force would be
inversely proportional to the mass of the body.
