 1.0 INTRODUCTION
The NLNG water treatment facility was commissioned in 1999, to produce potable water for use in the Residential Area (RA) and
Industrial Area (IA), and also generate high purity process water (demineralized water) for use within the plant. The facility is currently
capacity constrained due to increase in demand for potable and process water coupled with deterioration in the equipment packages as
result of corrosion.
The facility presently has only one storage tank for storage of potable water (2,253m 3) and one for demineralized water (351m 3). Over the
years, the water demand has increased significantly due to plant expansion from a three (3) Trains to six (6) Trains operation and
population growth in both Residential Area (RA) and Industrial Area (IA). The single storage tank for potable and process water also
makes it impossible to shut-down, carry out mandatory inspection and maintenance activities on these tanks.
In addition, manual dosing / transferring of acid within the units as a result of the prolonged outage of the Hydrochloric Acid Package Unit
(A-4370) with attendant corrosive fumes has led to the corrosion of the packages and the piping within the acid handling area.
In the event of leakage / failure of these storage tanks or piping infrastructure within the water treatment facility, both LNG production and
potable quality water supply will be greatly impacted.
As part of the plant asset rejuvenation program in order to address the integrity, safety and environmental concerns and increase the water
storage capacity, this project was initiated to install two additional storage tanks and also upgrade the treatment facilities.
This Contract scope is limited to engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning works for Rehabilitation of Corroded
Infrastructure in Units 4300/4500/4600 and Provision of Secured Acid Handling System with the following details:

Decommissioning of corroded package Equipment’s, structural steel, gratings, cable trays and piping system

Replacement of corroded steel supports, hand rails & gratings, piping system, pipe supports and cable trays

Replacement of obsolescent Control Valves, KBS Valves and field Instrument and accessories

Procurement and site erection of Package Equipment’s (Hydrochloric Acid Package Unit and Acid/Alkali Regeneration Vessels)
and integration into existing system
