REPORT
School Roll-Out Training on Contingency Planning
and Crafting Multi-Hazard Plan
December 16,2021

Being a teacher means we must be a


lifelong learner. Even in the middle of pandemic,
educational institutions should still consider the
conduct of collaborative learning session, at
least per department to maintain the minimum
health protocol. Gaining new and refresher
knowledge from colleague’s
point-of-view of a certain topic, whether
technical or managerial, will helps us grow and
widen our teaching abilities in the new normal
mode of education. It also serves as an open-
forum in which each individual can interactively
share and ask question regarding such school-
related concerns and challenges encountered.

The topic for this month’s LAC Session is


“School Roll-Out Training on Contingency
Planning and Crafting Multi-Hazard Plan”
conducted by the School DRRM Coordinator, Mr.
Wendell Dalangin. Before the seminar starts, Mrs.
Zoila Escalona reminded the TLE department
about the schedule of LAC Session speakers and
task assignments of TLE teachers on the
upcoming months. The seminar formally
opened with the morning prayer followed by
the opening remarks of Mr. Apolinario Mañibo,
Head Teacher of TLE Department. Mr. Mañibo
discussed the status of the school in
preparation for limited face-to-face classes,
School Safety Assessment Tool, and the
weekly health survey form.
Going into the seminar proper, Mr.
Dalangin expounded the significance, use,
benefit, and on how to prepare an effective
and attainable Contingency Plan (Con-Plan).
He emphasized the importance of Con-Plan
as a preparation to the limited face-to-face
classes in this time of COVID-19 pandemic
and even in small events like intramurals,
earthquake drills, etc. parades,
While the discussion is on-going, there are some questions and
suggestions raised by some teachers. Here are the few suggestions given that
might help in constructing the school’s Con-Plan for the upcoming face-to-face
classes:

1. cluster the students who will participate in limited face-to-face classes


into 1 or 2 adjacent barangay only in each classroom,
2. provide each classroom with COVID waste garbage bins,
3. install a disinfection apparatus at the entrance gate of the school,
4. make every comfort room functional at every building, and
5. conduct a school-wide DRRM seminar to educate each school
employees regarding the school’s contingency plan.

As a popular quotation says, “Failing to plan is planning to fail.” This session


taught us on how a concrete contingency plan can aid us to make a well-
planned actions and responses in case of emergencies, small accidents,
natural calamities and currently, COVID-19 pandemic
