RAHUL KNIT WEAR was established in the year 2005 by Mr. S.


JAYAPRAKASH they manufacture exciting range of knitted garments and custom made
garments and exports all over India they have wide range of knowledge in garments and
they are focused on providing best service to their clients they have well established
facilities and modern machines to achieve their goals.

There are 75 employees working in the company industry

Production Department:

Generally, production Management refers to the group of function that are


responsible for Manufacturing goods it is a fully functional department which then converts raw
material into a finished goods and packages them. The production manager is responsible for
making sure that raw materials are provided and made into finished goods effectively. The
responsible person must make sure that the operations are carried smoothly and must supervise
them.

Marketing Department:

A marketing department promotes the business to the next level role is to identify,
Anticipate and satisfy the customer needs the goal of the marketing is to make profit to the company
money keeps flowing into the company because of forecasting long-term relationship. Company
often do market research on or before implementing new products into the market. The marketing
department interacts with the customers and determines the success or failure of the company in
terms of generating revenue

Finance department:

The finance department is also in charge for managing the organization's cash
flow and ensuring there are enough funds available to meet the day-to-day obligations. It is a
important component of the organization, Financial management: Principle and practice,
finance concerned with the conservation of the capital funds in order to meet the needs and
overall objectives of an organization. It ensures the efficient of financial management and
financial control which is necessary to support all the business activities. Financial department
includes bookkeeping, managing the company cash flow, budgets and forecasting, sourcing
long term finance, management of taxes and financial reporting and analysis.

Human resource department:

The human resource department is the set of people responsible for smooth flow
of an organization, business sector, industry, or economy. The human resource department
handles a wide range of function within an organization. This department primary function is
to hiring and terminating employees, training workers and interpreting employment laws. The
HR department’s duties will vary from companies, but however they are summed up in 6 main
functions.

Hiring and Recruiting, Training and development, Handling compensation,


Employee benefits, Employee Relations and Legal Responsibilities.

Contracting and Enlisting is one of the primary functions of HR department’s


interviews and hires qualified candidates for required position. The training and development
is responsible for training the staff within an organization. Handling compensation typically
handles the employee payroll/salary and ensure they are paid on time without any delay. Their
benefits include health and dental insurance, long term care or disability programs as well as
employee assistance and wellness programs and other required health benefits. Worker
relations include participating in different aspects of organizational activities it keeps up
relationship between employee and managements. Legal Responsibilities include labor laws
such as equal employment opportunity, fair labor standards, benefits and wages, and work hour
requirements.

Quality Control department:
The Quality control department is a step by step process or rules that are planned
and guarantee that the product or the service meets the certain execution benchmarks. The goal
of any quality control department is to ensure that the item meets the consumer population.
Good quality control helps the company to efficiently manufacture the products to cut down
on mistakes and waste and maximize the profit.

In the textile industry, the program put from the exceptionally starting of the
manufacture process starting from sourcing the raw material.

Materials include:

 Yarn
 Fabric
 Dye and Coloration
 Printing and designing
 Finished components

Store department:
The store division is capable of receiving raw materials from the supplier. Many
a times the materials are inspected for quality and match with the specification mentioned in
the purchase order on or before accepting the material. Store department records the goods
receipt against the particular order and acknowledge the delivery note from the respective
supplier.

Goods receipt or invoice note is required to communicate with the accounts


payable department to begin the transaction process to the supplier regarding the invoice.
Procurement department role doesn’t terminate with just placing the order. They also ensure
that supplier supplies the raw material in concurred time and with concurred specifications.
Stores department plays vital role in creating records which is receipt and inconsistencies found
in the time of conveyance, for obtainment to require the remedial and prevent action.

PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT

The production process is the first and foremost process which then turns into a
finished product for the consumers. The production process starts after procuring the raw
materials from the supplier.

The buyer himself provides a sketch or a design agreeing to their accessibility


initially the samples are made according to their sketch. When the samples are approved by
the client the production process begins accordingly.

The production process then sub divided into the following,

 Sampling
 Cutting
 Sewing
 Checking
 Ironing
 Packing

SAMPLING:

Sampling is the process where a small amount of product is manufactured from


the total order i.e. Ten to Fifteen pieces are manufactured for sampling. This ensures the
product quality and make sure all the constrains are met which is been requested by the buyer.
These samples are given to the buyer for the conformation for further production.

Mostly these sample pieces are manufactured in the medium size. But they
provide samples with size chart which is known as pec sheet, the spec sheet contains of design
of garments, color, measurements, printing and grading charts. At this point if there’s any
correction that can be easily made for the further production to meet the bench mark.

CUTTING:
Cutting department is one of the fundamental function for the garments
manufacturing industry. The fabric cutting begins after spreading the fabric. The spreading
process is done manually. Once the fabric is laid on the top of the table a marker paper is used
to mark the fabric then the fabric cutting is stared according to the marker plan.

Types of machines used for cutting fabric:

 Straight knife cutting


 Band knife cutting
 Round knife cutting

Straight Knife Cutting:


A straight knife cutting machine is popularly used in the textile industry.
Generally, most of the garments industry will use this hand-operated straight knife cutting
machine to cut the fabric layer. It is very easy process to cut the garments from the laying
fabric. The machine is operated by using electricity. A single person can operate the machine
to cut the laying fabric. Before operating this machine a specially made protective gloves is
used for safety.

Band Knife Cutting:
A Band knife cutting machine is especially used for cutting small garments
parts. Likewise straight knife the band knife can also be operated by one person by the power
of electricity. Band Knife is used to cut very sharp curves it has higher productivity for limited
products it is also used for cutting small parts of the fabric. The band knife cutting machine
does its job automatically according to the height of the relevant materials.

Round Knife Cutting:


A Round Knife cutting is a hand operated cutting machine it us widely used
when cutting only single of double piles. It is not like a common knife it differs from other
straight and band knife. This machine has plenty of workload and cutting efficiency is slightly
lower than straight knife. The round knife is narrower than band knife, therefore, machine is
quite hard to control and fabric is movable. Accuracy can be achieved only by practice.

SEWING:

Sewing process involves stitching the fabric together either with the hand
stitching or with a machine with the help of needle and thread. Sewing can also be done without
the design or to create temporary stitches or to repair previously sewn items. This process is
handled by the production manager he will be kept monitoring the process. There will be lead
time provided by the buyer within a given period of time the garments should ready to ship.

Types of sewing machines are the following:

 Lock stitch machine


 Flat lock machine
 Over lock machine

Lock Stitch Machine:

Lock stitch machine is used for basic stitching process it is widely used in the
garments industry. A lock stitching machine binds cloths together with a thread and a needle,
a lock stitching machine makes strong and straight seams. It is operated manually by using
electric power. The needle fastens up and down either by a manual foot treadle or a mechanical
motor controlled by a pedal.

Flat Lock Machine:

The technical name of flat lock machine is cover stitch machine. A flat lock
machine is also known as interlock sewing machine. The flat lock machine is used by mass
garments manufacture for knits products manufacturing including T-shirts, polo shirts,
sweatshirts and leggings. The same machine can be used for making woven garments. Another
use of this machine is decorative stitch on the t-shirt side seam.

Over Lock Machine:

The over lock machine is available in various thread option which result in
different stitches and different result is produced. This machine is capable of a true safety stitch
this machine create each stitch separately from the other this provides a professionally finished
seam like those found in ready-made garments. As the number of needles and loopers increase
the stitch diversity also increase, so does the price. Types of over lock machines are 2 Thread
Overlock machine, 3, 4, 5, 6 thread.

CHECKING:

Checking is a very common task in the garments industry. Garment checking


method is the method of testing all what is used in making garments. Garment checking
involves checking the textile quality, the fabric, the yarn and the fiber. Since the order is place
in bulk there will be errors in the garments. So, it is essential to check in any garments industry.
This department inspects each and every garments measurements, color match, thread loops,
etc. Once they approved the garments the garments is ready for ironing and packing.

IRONING:
Ironing is commonly done to remove wrinkles on the garments normally steam
ironing is used in the industry. After ironing process in completed it is ready for packing.

PACKING:
Garments packing is the part of finishing section which is the last section of
garments manufacturing process. Packing involves wrapping, compressing, filling or making
of goods for the purpose of handling. Sequence of packing.

FLAT PACKING:

First garments are folded flat as per specific dimension and later packed into
polybag.

ASSORTMENT:

After finishing the packing process of garments it must be placed in a


predetermined order by sorting according to the size and color then the garments is packed for
instance the product must be aligned from XS-XXL, This process is called assortment.

CARTON BOX PACKING:

Carton box packing is done according to buyers comment. Initially the sample
pieces are send to the client using carton box packing the final product is send through bundle
packing.

BUNDLE PACKING:

The bulk quantity are mostly packed by using this method. In this method a
single bundle can occupy total of 750 quantities. The garments are packed using a gunny bag
and a strap by using strapping machine.

DOCUMENTATION & DELIVERY:

Final inspection will be handled by buyer. He inspects the garments according


to the AQL (Acceptable Quality Level). Once inspection is done seller will sell the garments
under specific payment term. Documentation is an evidence that verify serves a record or
dealing of two parties.

MARKETING DEPARTMENT
The marketing department plays a vital role in organization it involves flow of
goods from producer to end consumers. It incorporate publishing, offering, conveying and
delivering products to the clients. The people who works in marketing try to grab customer
attention.

Rahul Knit Wear analyze the marketing trend and produce products accordingly
and sells their products whole sale and also through online mode software used is Udaan.

The Marketing and sales process will be taken care by marketing manager.
Marketing department accepts order from clients and starts enquiring the quality from the client
and follow up the customer. Once order is under taken procurement of all raw materials is done
according to client needs. In the meantime negotiation is done between two parties. The
contract review is done as well. It includes some paper works.

They ensure that decision are made through contracts when they run business.
All the policies and conditions should be handled accurately to prevent any legal problems.
Every business proprietor who is drafting and negotiating a business contract should always
have a contract studied clearly by a qualified professional.

In the next step the payment methods are discussed between two parties. And a
documentation in maintained.

Marketing involves the range of process to satisfy the customer needs

After that the person working in marketing department will contact other state
buyers or brokers for placing future purchase order.

FINANCE DEPARTMENT
Account department involves recording, classifying and reporting business
transaction. It gives information to management with respect to the financial status of an
organization the company will prepare the budget every year. The software used for accounting
is Tally 9.

It makes a difference to know about the financial status of the company. The
company is currently banking with Karur Vysya Bank, Tirupur.

The key accountancy tasks are mentioned below.

Recordation

Generally, the business recording includes several key transactions that are
handled on a daily basis, which then includes issuing client’s bill, clearing supplier’s bill,
maintaining a receipt for customers and paying employees. This operation is particularly
handled by an accountant. There are plenty of business transaction which are non-repetitive in
nature, and so introducing the use of journal entries to record them in the accounting book.

These are then divided into 2 types they are

Financial Accounting

Financial accounting is an accounting which includes basic account rules and


regulation which incorporate preparing of Journal, Ledger, and Trail Balance in other words
recording, classifying and summarizing.

Management Accounting

Management accounting is another type of accounting which mainly focus on


revenues and expense of a business as well as the asset usage by a company. The main purpose
of this accounting is to analyze and take respective actions to improve the financial positions
of the business.

Responsibilities of Accounting Manager

 Plan, implement and supervise overall accounting strategy.


 Oversee accounting day to day operation.
 Constantly produce financial reports and statements.
 Follow up appropriate accounting strategies, approaches and standards.
 Meet financial accounting obligations.

Documentation is a form of information that describes about the product to its


user. The term documentation refers to the source of information about the product for example.

The commercial invoice is a lawful record between the supplier and the client
about the amount due on the sold goods, and the amount to be paid by client. The commercial
invoice is one of the main document used by clients in determining customs duties.

HUMAN RESOURCE DEPARTMENT

The human resource department handles wide range of functions in the


organization. This particular department is responsible for hiring workers, giving proper
training, maintaining a good relationship with employees and interpreting the important
employment laws. This department ensures that the operation run smoothly and efficiently.

Hiring and Recruiting

The basic functions of the human resource department is to look for candidates
to hire for organization. Hiring and recruiting a right skilled person is crucial task. It incorporate
with skills assessment to match candidates for right job/position.

In this particular organization the minimum qualification of employee is 10th or


12th passes out. There are 75 employees working in the company. The minimum qualification
of supervisor is Diploma or relevant degree in textile field.

Internal source: Internal source in the sense promoting the employee or giving promotion or
even reemployment of ex-employee.

External source: On the other hand it is not always possible for the management to find a
certain type of skilled labour within the organization so they look for some external source of
recruitment.

The General Manager of the company Mr. Rahul is the Back Bone of the
employees. His motivation and leadership plays a vital role in synchronizing workers effect
and make sure the harmony prevails in the work palace.

Training and Development

It creates a training session for employee and conduct various training aspects
for newly hired workers. A senior will be appointed to train the employee and share knowledge
about Shit timing, Salary, Annual leave and other safety measures. The company conducts
workshop regularly for employees where professionals come from different states it often
happens when a new machine is brought for production.

Compensation

The role of Human resource manager is to ensure that the employee’s payroll
are paid accurately on time without any delay also amount deductions are made based on the
leaves taken by the employee.

Legal Responsibilities

The Human resource department plays a vital role in interpreting and enforcing
employment and labour laws such as equal employment opportunity, fair labor standards,
benefits and wages, and work hour requirements. It also includes harassment, discrimination
complaints, keeping employee records, equal opportunity laws, establishing and maintaining a
safe workplace.

Safety Measures: Organizations fire extinguisher, First aid Kits (10) and CCTV (15)

Health Benefits: Organization ensures that all the employee ae insured under certain insurance
scheme.

Welfare Measures: Workers are provided with transport facilities and canteen.

Salary: Salaries are given on weekly and monthly basis.

Annual leave: Annual leave includes Government holidays, National holidays and Local
holidays.

Bonus: Workers are given Festival bonus (Ex. Diwali)

QUALITY CONTROL DEPARTMENT

Quality control is a focused process that prioritizing about the quality not about
the price because the quality becomes more important than the price. Quality control is done
after completing the production the process.

Checking

Here body is inspected by a quality inspection team to check it any swing,


washing or shrink or any other faults exist in the garments. If found, the garments are send to
the production section or defective garments are rejected.

Trimming

Here the product is inspected for any extra threads, excess amount of cloths in
any area of the garments will trimmed and re-stitching is done if necessary.

TARGETS OF QUALITY CONTROL:

 Setting up high quality benchmarks


 Smooth production process to eliminate waste
 Detecting any diversion in production process
 Segregation of defective products
 Ascertaining reasons for low quality

STORES DEPARTMENT

The Stores department main objective is to store all the raw materials necessary
to produce garments. The stores department is centralized in garments industry before starting
the garments production the required amount of fabric has to be stored. From here all the
process such as spreading, cutting, sewing, etc. follows. As result, this department plays a vital
role to get smooth production.

It is the second task where the store in-charge receives fabric from the supplier

Fabric Checking:

Fabric is checked according to the invoice. If it’s found short then it should be
immediately informed to the manager.

Shade Checking:

It’s very important task for fabric department. The fabric shade should be
checked as per documents that are approved by the buyer. If various shade found it should be
kept lot wise.

Fabric lot rejection:

According to the grading of fabric and GSM. If fabric lot is damaged the
fabric lot has to reject here.

Kept in store:

After completing all the above process the fabric is kept in the store for
support into the next production process such as cutting, sewing, etc.

CONCLUSION

This industrial training program helps me to understand and learn about various
departmental process and how they used to progress in their work, It helps to learn about the
work culture and the relationship between workers and managing director, they shared
knowledge about all the departments and had a great exposure. I learned theoretically about the
business and its management. I was much honored while doing out industrial training program
in this esteemed establishment which is really worth in name frame. I am extremely thankful
that I was given such an opportunity, which helped us to gain my knowledge and experience.
