(b) Is f(3), f(-4) positive or negative?
(c) For what values of x is f(x) > 0?
(d) For what values of x is f(x) <0?
(e) How often does the line y = 2 intersect the graph?

2𝑥 2
2. Answer the following questions about the function 𝑓(𝑥) = : 5
𝑥 4 +1
(a) Is the point (-1, 1) on the graph of f(x)?
(b) If x = 1, what is f(x)? What point is on the graph of f(x)?
(c) If f(x) = 1, what is x? What points are on the graph of f(x)?
(d) What is the domain of f(x)?
(e) List the x and y intercepts, if any, on the graph of f(x).

3. Answer the following questions for the given function: 5

(a) Find the domain of the function.

(b) Locate any intercepts.
(c) Graph the function.
(d) Find the range.
(e) Is f(x) is continuous on its domain?

4. Graph the function 𝑓(𝑥) = −2𝑥 2 + 6𝑥 + 2 with the help of the basic graph using graphing techniques
showing all the steps. 5

5. Graph the function 𝑓(𝑥) = −3|𝑥 + 1| + 2 with the help of the basic graph using graphing techniques
showing all the steps. 5

6. Graph the function 𝑓(𝑥) = −3𝑥 2 + 3𝑥 − 2 using properties of the parabola. 5

7. A projectile is fired from a cliff 200 meter above the water at an inclination of 450 to the horizontal, 5
with a muzzle velocity of 100 meter/second. The height h of the projectile above the water is modeled by

 32x 2
