Inael: Laboratorio de Alta Tensión High Voltage Laboratory

The test report summarizes the results of a temperature-rise test on a 36kV ceramic cut-out. The test was conducted according to IEC 60282-2 and measured the temperature rise of the cut-out under test when a 100A fuse link and 200A sectionalizer blade were installed and carrying constant currents of 100A and 200A respectively. All qualification criteria were met, with maximum temperature rises of 22.4°C for the fuse link and 37.3°C for the sectionalizer blade, below the limits specified in the standard. Therefore, the cut-out passed the temperature-rise test.

Test Procedure.

• The Object under Test equipped with upper and lower standard contacts was
mounted on a mechanical structure fixed by its middle support and connected to
the Current Generator through 1m long 150 mm2 copper conductors .
• A constant 100 Arms power frequency current flew through the Object under
Test mounted with a 100A link fuse. The temperature was measured with
thermocouples K connected to the different parts of the circuit. After some hours
of temperature stabilization, the temperature was measured over the last 3 hours,
taking into account that the temperature difference was lower than 1 º K / hour.
• A constant 200 Arms power frequency current flew through the Object under
Test mounted with a 200A sectionalizer blade. Following the same procedure as
the previous one with the fuse link, the temperature was measured with
thermocouples K connected to the different parts of the circuit. After some hours
of temperature stabilization, the temperature was measured over the last 3 hours,
taking into account that the temperature difference was lower than 1 º K / hour.

Test Results and Evaluation Criteria.

Qualification Criteria

• The ambient air temperature during the tests shall be between 10ºC and 40ºC.
• During the last quarter of the test period, the change of ambient air temperature
shall not exceed 1ºK in 1h.
• The temperature rise measured after temperature stabilization shall not exceed
the limits specified in table 17 of standard IEC 60282-2

Final Conclusion

All the Qualification Criteria were fulfilled, therefore the sample with fuse link and
sectionalizer blade is deemed to pass the test.
