UNSTOPPABLE KIDS

LESSON PLAN 1st GRADE


Time: 4 hours
Date: 9th March 2022 – 16 March 2022
UK Teacher: Giovanna Lucía Cabarcas Martínez

Goal: Ss will be able to talk about greetings and classroom commands.


Topics: Greetings – Commands

WEEK 1 – 9th March 2022


PRE TASK:
Warm up activity
Procedure:
Play the song “ if you are happy” sing and dance with Ss.

DURING TASK: I
Introduction of the topic:

Procedure:
• The teacher will greet students again and will introduce herself in English giving
some personal information like name, things her like/love and feeling:
For example: Hello, Good Morning, class! How are you today?
My name is… - I like/love cats – I feel happy today!

•Then, T will say: Do you know what I just did? - I introduce myself in English. (Say
it in English then switch to Spanish for a better comprehension).

•After that, ask them “Why is it important to introduce yourself?” TO MAKE NEW
FRIENDS!♥
Presentation of the topic:
•Show some flash cards of the vocabulary about greetings

• Teach them these expressions (write them on the board):

Write on the board the wh questions used to give personal information.


-Hello/Good morning/Good afternoon/night. (Paste a hand – sun – clouds – moon on
the board below each greeting)
-My name is… / I like/love + animal
-I feel happy/Sad/scared/sleepy/angry today! (Paste some images down each word to
contextualize)
PROCEDURE:
1. Drilling. Ask students to say 3 times each expression.
2. Show the pictures while saying the words
3. Mimic again how to use them: Hello, my name is… I like… I feel… today and ask
ss to do the same with their info.

PRACTICE:
Play HOT POTATO or pick a number from the list randomly

Procedure:
1. Explain the game hot potato.
2. Whenever Ss hear STOP, the kid with the ball will answer a random question
that will be in a little box.
Questions: What is your name? – What do you like? – How do you feel today?
Students should answer: My name is… I like… I feel…today.

3. If they got the question “How do you feel today?” ss should show the emoji of

the emotion and say for ex. I feel sad ☹️ today.

POST TASK:
Review the vocabulary taught in class using the images and expressions.

HOMEWORK:
Give Ss some vocabulary copies to color at home. (Vocabulary of Greetings and
emotions)

WEEK2 – 16th March 2022

PRE TASK: Warm up activity


Play the “follow me” song and sing and dance with ss.

DURING TASK: Introduction of the topic “Classroom Commands”

Procedure:
•The teacher will mimic first some classroom commands while Ss will have the chance
to guess what the meaning of each one is in Spanish.
• Then, the teacher will say aloud in English each one of the commands while mimic
them and will ask Ss to mimic them too.

Presentation of the topic:


Procedure:
1. The teacher will write on the board the vocabulary and will paste next to each
expression a picture to contextualize.
2. Students will first know the meaning of each expression
3. The teacher will mimic several times every expression using her body and a
notebook, students should guess them.
PRACTICE:
Procedure:
1. T will explain the activity in which students have to color a copy including
the vocabulary of classroom commands.
2. Ss should then paste the copy on their notebooks

PLAY SIMON SAYS: “Teacher says”

3. T will give Ss instructions about the activity similar to simon says but called
Teacher says.
4. Whenever Ss hear “Teacher says…” they should mimic the action.
Ex. Teacher says: Open your books! / Close your books - Sit down/Stand up –
Be quiet – Color – Raise your hand.
